Doug Lincoln Obituary

Doug Lincoln

Simi Valley - Doug Lincoln, a 58-year Simi Valley resident, passed peacefully on Saturday March 6, 2021 at the age of 89.

Doug was born George Douglas Lincoln June 10, 1931 in Brattleboro, Vermont. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 19 serving 4 years from 1950 to 1954. There he became a senior jet engine mechanic on the B36 reconnaissance bomber aircraft, a post flight mechanic for #5 engine, post flight chief, and then crew chief.

After his service and relocating to California, Doug worked for the Marquardt Aircraft Corporation in 1956 as a Test Facilities Inspector for turbo jet engines. In 1961 he was a Missile Field Test Inspector for General Dynamics Astronautics at Vandenberg AFB. The end of 1961 brought Doug to Rocketdyne Santa Susana Field Lab as a Rocket Engine Test Inspector, Rocketdyne Canoga Park as an Associate and Technical Writer developing manuals for rocket engines, and Rocketdyne Van Nuys as a Manufacturing Methods Analyst in the Space Engines Division. In mid 1964 Doug began working for Pacific Airmotive Corporation where he ran quality assurance inspection departments for Pratt & Whitney J58 jet engines used in Lockheed Aviation A12 Aircraft prior to being turned over to the Air Force as the SR71 Spy Plane.

From 1967 to 2004, most of you will remember seeing Doug working and greeting his customers at Rebel Engine in Simi Valley that he owned and operated for 37 years. Doug built and enjoyed racing his 1972 Datsun 1200 Coupe from 1993 to 2000 at Muroc and El Mirage Dry Lake Beds, and Bonneville Salt Flats where he set many records and acquired numerous trophies and esteem. Doug set his first record driving at 152.154 mph on September 17, 1995 at the age of 64.

His two children Gary Lincoln and Leanne Lundgren, 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, brother Carl Lincoln and wife Annie, brother-in-law Richard Booth, and all their families will miss Doug tremendously.

Doug will be buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Chatsworth, CA next to his wife Ann and daughter Lynda. His grave will be topped with his memorial plate that reads, "I'd Rather Be Racing".
