Ed Nauyoks, age 91, passed away October 12 at the Ojai home of his grandson Kevin Beirne and his wife, Christine Beirne. They were both present at his moment of passing.
Ed is survived by his sister Thelma Wessol (Joe) of Illinois, their children Sydney and Debbie. His grandchildren, Kevin (Christine) Beirne, Kerry (Susan) Beirne of St. Louis, Kent (Darcy) Beirne of New Hampshire, Michael (Natalie) Huscheck of Dallas, Texas, Stacey Huscheck Stack (Chris) of Springfield, MO, and many great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Ed was born in East St. Louis, Illinois and told us many tales of those times including seeing Babe Ruth play when he was a young boy. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Huscheck in St. Louis, Missouri at a dance hall - he would say later that he liked her legs. They married in 1956. Ed retired after 23 years in the Air Force as a Master Sargent and then worked as a production auditor in aircraft manufacturing. Ed and Dorothy moved to Ventura in 1982. Dorothy passed away in 2002.
Ed was predeceased by Dorothy's children David Huscheck and Jean Beirne.
One of Ed's favorite past times was going to the satellite horse racing at the Ventura fairgrounds. He never liked to bet more than a $1.00, but spent many hours analyzing the races. He taught all his grandchildren (and great-grandchildren!) about racing as well as spoons, songs, finger games (see my finger? See my thumb?....), and poker. Ed loved animals, the movies and a good book.
Kevin and Christine Beirne would like to thank Help Unlimited - especially Trevor for all his caring, concern and attention; Vitas Hospice - especially Kristine (nurse) and Pastor Jai.
Ed donated his body to the UCLA body donation program. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ventura County Library System.
