Fran Pettit of Newbury Park died June 24, 2008, after a brief illness, at Los Robles Medical Center.
Fran was born on Feb. 16, 1928, in Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada. She was the second oldest of five siblings, Paul Trach, Verna Cody, Mary Bosiak, Edward Trach, and Leonard Trach.
Fran left the farm at the age of 16. She met her future husband, LaVerne "Vern" Harvey Pettit, in Vacouver, Canada. They were married Oct. 6, 1951, and moved to California in 1956. They enjoyed almost 30 years together before he preceded her in death.
Fran worked at Fedco for 25 years and retired to enjoy her life filled with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. An avid fan of Dodger baseball she followed every game! Fran was a dedicated, gardener, traveling far and wide to view the sea of California wild flowers.
Fran was a hardworking, wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Fran left behind her children, Kenneth (Theresia), Gary (Sharon), and Lori (Jeff). She leaves eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 30600 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills, Calif.

I worked with Fran at Fedco Vannuys from 1974 to 1984.
