Gloria Inez (Kinch) Vannix fell asleep in Christ on March 11, 2010, at home in Somis, in the tender care of her husband.
Born on Sept. 27, 1928, in Loma Linda, she graduated from San Diego Union Academy in 1946, then attended La Sierra College, where she met her future husband, and completed her nursing education at Loma Linda School of Nursing, graduating in 1951.
She married George Lea Vannix on August 19, 1951; they have since been constant companions in the ministry and missions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in raising two children, and in tending to their extended families. Her preeminent priority was always her family; with them, she traveled extensively, including large sections of the John Muir Trail, all 50 states, and 4 continents.
Her principal passion in these treks, as well as closer to home , was birding. Having enjoyed as earlier stint living in Oxnard in the 1950s, the family settled in the Pleasant Valley for good in 1966 (in Camarillo until 2000, then at 'Villa del Cielo" in Somis).
She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Fred Kinch, and her parents, Vivian Florence (Bruner) and Archie LeRoy Kinch. She is survived by her steadfast spouse, George Lea Vannix; her sister, Vinette Templeton (of Phoenix, Ariz.); her daughter and son-in-law, Linda Louise (Vannix) and Brent Lockewood and their daughter Lisa Lorraine Lockwood (also of Somis); and her son and daughter-in-law, David Lee and Rosemary (Hannema) Vannix, and their children, Kristen Noelle and Ian Sinclair Hannema Vannix (of Redlands).
She will be celebrated in a memorial service at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Camarillo Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3975 Las Posas Road, Camarillo, CA.

To my long time frends and neighbors I wish to express our sympathies and prayers. We go back a lot of years, I will always remember her sweet smile and caring way. When she gave me her frienship recipe and shared her beautiful Passion Flowers. Look forward to the time when God wipes away all our tears and no more separations.
