Herbert Bansbach Obituary

The worlds' greatest dad, Herbert Leo Bansbach, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012. Herb was born on September 11, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA., but resided in Ventura County for the past forty years.

He is survived by his wife Anne and eight children; seven girls and one son. There were nineteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He has a brother, Bob and was preceded in death by his sister Edith Britting and his mother and father Olga and Lee.

After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova, Herb served the U.S. Navy in the submarine corps as a Lieutenant (JG) during World War II. Herb worked in the aerospace industry for over forty years.

He was a devoted and longstanding member of the Knights of Columbus with 58 years of continuous service. Herb loved woodworking and built furniture and accessories as a hobby. More importantly, he loved to grow his tomatoes producing his own variety of "Herbie's Tomatoes". Simi Hills was a favorite golfing spot and enjoyed the sport passionately with good friends for many years. He even had a hole in one in the nineties. Everyone remembers Herb with a smile when it comes to tinkering and modifying everything he touched. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be at Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary being said at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. with burial at Assumption Cemetery.
