James Gorenflo Obituary

James Kenneth Gorenflo

Camarillo, CA

James Kenneth Gorenflo, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on December 4th, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Born in Brookhaven, MS he moved with his parents J.R. and Louise Gorenflo to Oxnard, CA in 1941. Shortly after graduating from Oxnard High School in 1956 he married Leah Florence Smith. Proudly he served 4 years in the Air Force as a mechanical engineer. Upon settling back in Oxnard with his wife and raising three children he returned to the family business, Jim's Imported Car Parts, Service and Sales on Oxnard Blvd, Oxnard. Ken attended UCLA and received his Master Degree and became the first Instructor for Oxnard College to teach automotive repair, brake & lamp and smog certification, where he taught for over 20 years. He held one of the first smog, brake & lamp licenses in the county and created the test with the State of CA. He held a license as a commercial pilot. He also owned and operated Ken's Motor Company and Right-Way Motors in Oxnard, CA.

In 1985 Ken married Oralia "Rallie" Perez Busher adding and loving raising two more children to his family and put down roots in Camarillo. One of his greatest pleasures he had in life was when he opened RK Smog Service, working with his wife and family through the years. He personally greeted and appreciated all his loyal customers. Upon becoming ill he retired and sold his business after 32 years to one of his longtime employees to keep his legacy alive.

He especially enjoyed his family, going on adventures, fishing, waterskiing, hunting and the loving kindness and worship at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He always gave back to his community, for many years he was very involved in Oxnard & Camarillo Lions Club and the Camarillo Moose Lodge.

Ken is survived by his wife; Oralia Gorenflo, his sister, Vista Michael (husband John) of Sonoita, AZ and his 5 children; Deborah Nunez of Henderson, NV, Charles Robert Gorenflo of Medford, OR, Sheri Wilhelm (husband Dave) of Moorpark, CA, Steven Busher (wife Madonna) of Camarillo, CA and Debra Stephens (husband Jason) of Oxnard, and by his 5 grandchildren; David Wilhelm, Racine Nunez, Joseph Gorenflo, Kenneth Wilhelm (wife Crystal) and Nicole Gorenflo.

Services will be held at Saturday 12/09/17 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 380 Arneill Road, Camarillo at 11:00 a.m. with burial services and final resting place on Sunday 12/10/17 at Conejo Mountain, Camarillo.

Rallie, I only learned about Ken today. It really saddens me since I have known both of you
socially and professionally for over 40 years.
Both of you have been real friends when I needed you in my ups and downs in life. There is nothing that I can say to take your pain away. Everyone that
has been blessed to know both of you will always remember his smile and friendship which both
of you generated.
