Surrounded by family, Jeff Flores lost his long, hard-fought battle with leukemia on Dec. 12, 2010. His friends and family take solace in knowing he is no longer in pain and can now rest. He is free.
Jeff Flores was born June 21, 1974 in Ventura to Rusty and Vicky Flores. Growing up in Camarillo, he participated in little league baseball and played football for the Camarillo Roadrunners. He continued his athleticism and competitiveness through high school playing both baseball and football for Rio Mesa High School. Jeff graduated from Rio Mesa in 1992, along with three other cousins, Gordy and Adriano Abellera and Sharon Gagua- three of many cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him.
Jeff served our country by way of the U.S. Air Force from 1995-2002. After moving to Las Vegas, Nev., in 2004, he continued to serve others as a corrections officer for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He enjoyed music, football, baseball, working out, bowling, golfing and spending every available moment with his family and close friends. Family and laughter were very important to him. He welcomed all to his family. He welcomed all with his smile.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 16 years, Tracey L. Flores, and their three beautiful children: Ashley Marie, Jeffrey Thomas, Jr., and Anthony Jay; his parents, Rusty and Vicky Flores; sister, Jeanette Flores (Ahmad Rasheed), niece Yasmeen and nephew, Khalil Rasheed; brother, Jay Flores (Melissa Budd); parent-in-laws, Mark and Dawn Smith-Ferguson; brother, Corey Smith and wife Lisa; brother, Philip Smith and wife Tricia; niece, Samantha and nephews, Jarret and Jamie; grandmothers, Narcisa Etrata Gagua and Flora Cortez Flores; numerous uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews who love him dearly. Jeff will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 19 and Monday, Dec. 20. There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, 1075 E. Daily Dr., Camarillo, 805-482-1166. Graveside service to follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo.
Any monetary donations to aid in funeral and medical expenses would be greatly appreciated and could be made to The Jeffrey Flores Donation Fund at all Wells Fargo branches.

My Deepest Sympathy goes out to the Flores family on their loss of Jeff. Tears come to my eyes (as they are now writing this)& I was deeply saddened to hear of the family's loss. Even though my husband Troy & I did not have the opportunity to personally meet Jeff, we knew how incredible and how strong he was through his sister and our friend Jeannette~

My dearest cousin...Words cannot express the pain and the great loss that I am feeling. But the memories that we've created and shared growing up gives me great comfort. We weren't just cousins; you were my little brother. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about you. It was a blessing to be a part of your life. You were an inspiration to all of us. You taught us strength and courage. You taught us to never give up - "YOU CAN'T OR YOU WON'T". Your presence is near and you will always be in my heart.

With deepest sympathy to Flores family and the whole family around Jeffrey (including me). I was really shocked and sad when I found out that you were ill-battling leukemia. Jeff, I prayed for you and your family always to give you courage and strength. Tears from my eyes when I think about you (like right now)! Your smile is so contagious that wherever you go, whoever you meet...there's a BIG smile on your face. We miss you so much but at least no more pain and suffering. Our angel to watch over us. We love you my good looking and loving nephew. You will always in our hearts.

? I am flooded with memories of you. There are so many things I learned from you when we were younger that until today I never realized I have even passed down to my own daughter. There is a memory that I always keep close to my heart. When I was 15 and knew it all (big surprise, lol) I was in a bad situation. Of course my parents tried everything to open my eyes to what I was doing, but it was your words, honesty, bluntness and friendship that opened my eyes. I never took the time to thank you for that Jeff. So, I now take the time to tell you. Thank you Jeff for saving my life. Love love love. ?

I grew up with Jeff, Gordy, Adrianno, and Sharon. I have wonderful memories of the good ol days of Monte Vista. I think everyone will agree Jeffs laugh was as contagious as a cold in grade school! I don't have a single memory of him with out that shining smile. Even though I haven't seen nor spoke to him since our freshman year, I never forgot him, let alone the rest of the family. I love all you guys. God Bless and my deepest condolences come from my heart miles away.

Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,To bring back a smile, to banish a tear? Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say, But how many were sorry when he passed away.
Thank you Jeff, and watch over us.
