JoAnn Schock Obituary

JoAnn E. Schock passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011.

JoAnn was born in Clemons, Iowa, Sept. 3, 1925. She attended high school in Sterling, Ill., and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Western Illinois University. She was teaching first grade in Des Moines, Iowa, when she met John, her husband of 57 years. JoAnn moved often due to John's work while raising three children, then spent the past 26 years in Thousand Oaks.

JoAnn was active in her church at Thousand Oaks. She enjoyed playing golf and creatively decorating her home with items she collected over the years. Christmas was always a favorite time with JoAnn as she enjoyed decorating every room of her house and hosting many Christmas parties at her home.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, John; her three married children, John Schock, Jr. (wife Karen), Ann White (husband Rex) and James Schock (wife Karen); six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 25, at the United Methodist Church at 1000 E. Janss Rd, Thousand Oaks. A reception will be held immediately after the services at the church.

John and Ann, My deepest condolences to you.I have had the honor and pleasure of knowing Joanne for many years, both in Columbus, Ohio and here in California. She was, in my estimation, a most remarkable woman. She was always kind and friendly; she had a style and grace that I always wanted to emulate. You will be in my prayers. Sincerely, Teresa Carper
