Joanne Dreebin, loving mother of Diane Johnston and Karen Gebarski; devoted grandmother to Brandon James Kakely and Anna Marie Gebarski; precious sister of Marlys Nelson; beloved companion of Jim Greer, passed away on Nov. 15, 2007.
Joanne was born on June 7, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minn.
As a teenager, she dreamed of singing with the big bands as she sat in the front row of Sinatra, Dorsey and Glenn Miller shows. A highlight of many family gatherings was Joanne and Marlys singing "Ragtime Cowboy Joe."
Her creativity was also expressed through painting portraits and landscapes. She worked at General Services Studios, Paramount and then Samuel Goldwyn Studios and MGM as a switchboard operator. She also volunteered for a number of years at the California Youth Authority, mentoring troubled teens. She was active in her church, having a deep Christian faith. Joanne touched the lives of so many with her enthusiasm for life, her positive outlook and caring nature.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father and grandson.

We will always remember:"I'm not at home. not by the phone, just leave the number, at the tone.....". Dear Joanne, you entertained many with you dancing, singing and quick wit and your poems. You remain in our hearts. Our sympathy to her family and to Jim.

I grew up with Diane and Karen in Calif. They lived right around the corner from me. I know Joanne did some beautiful paintings.
May peace be with her.
My deepest sympathy goes out to the family in this time of grief. May god be with you all.

I was with you all yesterday in spirit but not in body, sorry to have missed the memorial. My prayers also were with you. Your Mom is singing and dancing in Heaven, you know she is that was her. Her memories will live forever in my heart. Today as I make the potatoe recipe she gave me and I have given to so many she will be in my thoughts, and as life goes that it will be Joanne will live through each of us. Much Love and Hugs, Joyce and Lee
