Jon was 80 years old when he died peacefully during the morning of March 18, 2013. Jon was born August 6, 1932 to Frederick and Gretta (Ingham) Rich in Jefferson, Iowa as the youngest of six. He graduated from Cooper High School and earned his MD from the University of Iowa in 1957. He valued his long career as an Obstetrician Gynecologist in the San Fernando Valley and found great pleasure and friendship through his most recent participation in the Elks Club of Thousand Oaks, Hospice of the Conejo, Kiwanis of Thousand Oaks, Van Nuys Masonic Lodge, Navy League, Al Malaikah, and The Royal Order of Jesters. He loved his family, friends, the outdoors, the LA Kings, and a good laugh.
Jon is survived by five children: Michelle (Marc) Gelms, La Center, WA; Mark (Nancy) Rich, Naples, FL; JoAnn (David) Trujillo, Castaic, CA; Jon (Lynn) Rich, Parker, CO; and Dustin Rich, Moorpark, CA; eight grandchildren: Jeremy and Marissa Gelms; Jason, Brittany, and Melissa Trujillo; Bryce, Blake and Courtney Rich; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clarence "Bud" Rich and Fred Rich, and sisters Lola Culver, Louise Ellis, and Clarice Hankins.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Masonic Lodge, 2786 Crescent Way, Thousand Oaks, CA, 91362 with a reception to follow at the same location. The family wishes to send a heart-felt thanks to the staff of Assisted Hospice and all of his close friends who provided their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Hospice of the Conejo", 80 E Hillcrest Dr, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360, an organization that Jon dedicated eight years as a volunteer including two years as President.

I have my son because of Jon Rich. He went I'll after my son's birth and I never got to thank him. RIP MR. RICH thank you for the gift I never thought I'd have.

As a former nurse at Holy Cross Medical center, I know Dr. Rich was a well respected physician. Not only by his patients, but fellow staff members at Holy Cross.
