Kimberly Magers Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce today the passing of Kimberly Noelle Magers. She was wrenched away from us suddenly at home on the morning of June 28, 2008. The loss of her vibrant presence in our family is beyond measure.

Kimberly was born on May 18, 1972, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Geoffrey and Carol Stubbs. She lived in Portage, Mich. until 1973, when her family moved to Thousand Oaks, Calif. She attended St. Paschal Baylon School, St. Bonaventure H.S., and graduated with honors from Cal State Long Beach in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in business and marketing. She also traveled abroad during those years and studied at Oxford University in England.

In December of 1994 she met Bradley Sims Magers, the love of her life, and on April 13, 1996, their two hearts were joined in marriage at Padre Serra Parish in Camarillo, Calif. They lived in Laguna and then Seal Beach for the next several years close to the ocean and sand that Kimberly so loved. During this time she worked at an ad firm in Huntington Beach, where her great creativity, organizational skills, and "spunky" personality helped her land many new accounts. In 1999, they bought their first home in Calabasas. In June of 2001 "with no regrets" she gave up her high-powered career and beloved advertising to become a "stay at home" Mom. On July 7, 2001, their first son, Nathan Sims Magers, was born followed soon by another son, Ryan Stubbs Magers, on Sept. 17, 2003.

Kimberly now had her "three boys" to take care of. Her life was full and complete. In 2002, they moved back to Thousand Oaks where she was raised, bought their present home in Sunset Hills and settled into an idyllic lifestyle that only Kimberly could have fashioned. She was the iconic "California Girl" She loved the outdoors, the beach and ocean, sunny days, shopping and tooting around on the freeway shopping and doing errands with her babies. She channelled her successful business ethic into everything she did. She organized a group of her friends and started a Mom's Club. She organized and cooked countless meals for her friends who had new babies or were ill. When the boys started preschool, she got active with Kolbe's Korner at St. Max's in Westlake and spent countless hours on the board and organizing the annual fun raiser. And when Nathan started kindergarten at St. Paschal's, she took an active role there, too. Her energy and vitality were boundless. She was a wonderful wife, "mommy," daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all who were lucky enough to have known her. She loved her "boys," her family, her home, the Southern California lifestyle and her life. There was never a more loyal or generous person. All of us who knew and loved her were so lucky to have been a part of her too short, amazing life and can only imagine what was yet to be.

Besides Brad and the boys, Kimberly leaves behind her proud mom and dad, Geoff and Carol Stubbs, of Santa Rosa Valley, Calif.; her loving sister, Meredith, and her husband, Bob, and their children, Geoffrey and Julianna of Simi Valley; her sweet brother, Bryan Christopher of Camarillo; a grandmother (Busia) Ann Mokrycki of Michigan City, Ind.; Brad's mom, Betsy Mallegg, and husband, Dave, of Laguna Beach; and dad, Bruce Magers, and wife, Kathy, of Northbrook, Ill.; and brother, Scott, and companion Nadia of Mission Viejo; as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

A remembrance and rosary service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, at St. Paschal Baylon Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at St. Paschal's Church, 166 E. Janss Road, with Pastor David Heney officiating. Burial immediately afterwards at Valley Oaks Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Cayon Road, Westlake Village, Calif.

I am happy to have met Kim and shared a chapter of our lives together...with our first born playing at the beach, to sharing the joy of our 2nd born. I treasured her friendship and it was always a treat to read her yearly newsletters.

I miss her more than one can imagine and one day we'll be sharing together again.

No words can express our sadness at such a cruel blow. Our thoughts have been with you all, Brad and the boys, Meredith Bob and family, Carole and Geoff and Bryan, and the wider family, since we first heard. We have such happy memories of seeing Kim and Brad here in England on Honeymoon and again for the Millennium. Such a loss to us all.

Carol, Geoff, Bryan and Meredith,

I know that the nine years that we were all together in Thousand Oaks, Kim, Bryan, Meridith and my girls, Jenni & Erin were little kids. That, is one of the things that made the loss of "Kimmie" so very painful for me! Most of my memories of her are as a little girl. To me, she will be forever "Kimmie"!!

ALL of you are in my prayers.

Love to all,
Joe

I am so very sorry to hear of Kims passing. I can remember her at St. Bonaventure like it was yesterday. Always had a smile on her face. I had only seen her a few times over the years and she had not changed a bit. Just a great person all around. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in your time of grief and may your memories bring you comfort.

Kim was like every stay at home mom in this area. Buzzing around everyday with her kids. Taking them here, taking them there, doing a few errands, fitting in her workout, catching up w/ friends, planning playdates, rushing home to get a hot meal ready, and getting to relax after the kids were asleep. We all do it everyday without even thinking that it could be taken away so suddenly. Live everyday to it's fullest. Carpe Diem. To Brad, Nathan and Ryan, we will pray for you forever and will always remember Kim. Love, The MacLeans

Kim will be deeply missed. She was one of the first people to welcome me into the MOMS Club of Calabasas. She was a true leader and well respected and loved by everyone in the club. Her example made me become more involved in the club, which truly changed my post-career life as a stay-at-home mom. Her passing is a tragedy, and my heart goes out to you and your boys. I am very sorry this has happened to you all.

It's taken days to find the right words to express my sorrow for Kimberly and the family. Since it's not possible, I want to at least send you all my love. Please know myself and my family is thinking of all of you. You've been dear neighbors and friends to Mom and Dad for years. We love you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Although I only knew Kim through chatting at the gym, she was always upbeat and it put a smile on my face to see her busily going about her fitness routine and pleasantly chatting with other gym members. I'm so sad for your boys. I do know, from our brief chats, how much she loved and adored her boys. You will be in my thoughts

I am very sorry to hear about Kim's passing. I don't know what happened, I only heard that she passed. I see her at the gym every morning, smiling and saying hello to the other members. Always used the same bike at the end of the row with her friend. Chatting away with many. From time to time I would save her equipment she use to like and she would always thank me with a big smile. It is so hard to believe that she is now gone, They say, when it's your time, it's your time, but for us, it is so difficult and shocking. Her spirit will warm you and at times when you think that you wont make it through, you will get the strenth somhow, and that is when you will know she is still around you and the family.

I was completely shocked and extremely saddened to learn of Kim's passing. I have known Kim and her brother, Bryan since St. Bonaventure. I would often see Kim at the gym in Thousand Oaks with her big smile and her contagious laugh as she would walk by me and "accidently" bump into me and start laughing. I will miss that great smile and upbeat personality. My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband, children, and family.

Brad, Nathan & Ryan,
Words can not tell you how sorry we are for your loss. Life is so precious and Kims was taken much too soon. It does not seem fair to have a mother taken from her children...or a wife taken from her husband, with so much life left to share. We knew Kim as a friendly neighbor and met her several times at neighborhood gatherings. She was such an outgoing, easy to talk to, fun-loving person. Our family would like to offer you the warmest heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your Kim.

While I haven't seen her in years, I remember her as an incredibly upbeat, energetic, positive and very fun person. I was so proud to read of all her accomplishments since we graduated nearly 20 years ago. What a truly dedicated and remarkable woman. My thoughts are with her family.

I am very sad to hearing of Kim's sudden passing. Kim was a very happy fun loving person. I am glad I was able to be let into her life. She had a love for life and enjoyed every moment. She was a great daughter, sister, wife and most of all was a wonderful mother to her little boys. She has touched many lives and we will all miss her dearly. It is very hard to understand why when God calls a loved one to him, especially when she has a lot of life left to live & has little ones that need her. I know God has a purpose for everything, but at times it just does not seem fair. My heart and prayers are with you at this very sad time.
Sincerly,
