Linda passed away peacefully July 26, 2010 in the arms of her husband David after a courageous and valiant battle with Leukemia.
Linda was born the oldest of three girls in Inglewood, Calif. and soon thereafter she moved to Pasadena where she attended Pasadena City College and transferred to Cal State Long Beach where she received her Master's Degree in Education and Teacher Certification. After becoming a teacher Linda studied in Costa Rica and Acapulco, Mexico becoming fluent in Spanish and changing her personal course and dedication to those children who are second language learners.
In 1987 she married David McGee and moved to Thousand Oaks where she soon took a job teaching second language learners in the Oxnard School District. She taught for a short time at Rose Avenue School and then moved to Lemonwood School where she taught first grade and touched countless lives through her dedication and excellence.
She was an outstanding teacher-leader respected and loved by all who knew her parents and teachers alike. Linda enjoyed many hobbies and excelled at them. The family enjoyed hiking, backpacking, rebuilding trails and camping everywhere which included a couple of weeks in the Grand Canyon. She was an accomplished quilter and was a member of the Conejo Valley Quilters Guild. Her countless quilts are true works of art which she took great pride in.
Linda is survived by her husband David, son Trevor (USMC), sisters' Nancy Millhollin of Carson and Carol Woodling and her husband David of Germantown, Tennessee, children Tyler and Katie and countless other nieces and nephews along with many great friends who will miss her early. A celebration of Linda's life will be held Sunday August 1, at Conejo Creek Park Creekside Pavilion starting at 4 p.m.

It was sad to open the paper this morning to read the news of Linda's passing. As one of Linda's principals during her tenure at Lemonwood School, I too echo the sentiments of Mr. Chavez. Many of us have fond memories of Linda. Linda was respected by all –teachers, staff and the community. She will be missed by many.
My prayers go out to her family.
God Bless,

It was very sad to hear the news about Linda's passing. During the 5 years I worked as principal at Lemonwood School, I observed how dedicated and focused she was in working with her students. Not only did she have empathy and compassion for students and parents but she was firm in her commitment to identify and address early problem areas. You could not have a better staff member.
I also recall her speaking so lovingly about her family and the pride and love she had for her son, Trevor. My sincerest condolences to Linda's family.
