Margarita G. Zarate, 86, a longtime Oxnard resident, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Tuesday, March 6, 2007.
Margarita was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Mission, Texas, to Maria Del Pilar and Hilario De La Garza.
Margarita was a homemaker who made her devoted family the focus of her life.
Margarita was preceded in death by her late husband, Cecilio Zarate, and brother Juan De La Garza.
She is survived by her sons, Leonel Zarate (wife Maria Inez) of Mission, Texas, Oscar Zarate of Oxnard, Cecilio Zarate Jr. (wife Yolanda) of Los Banos and Jose Omar Zarate (wife Teresa) of Rio Hondo, Texas; daughters, Amparo Solis (husband Arnoldo) of Oxnard, Noelia Hernandez (husband Manuel) of Ventura and Maricela Lopez (husband Antonio) of Oxnard; brothers Jose Maria De La Garza, Medardo De La Garza and Rafael De La Garza and sisters, Paulita Bocanegra, Socorro Adame, Hilaria Garcia, Rosalinda Brown and Yolanda Cabrerra, all of Texas; 23 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 12, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Conrad-Carroll Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.
