Mark Andrew Brickley, born July 29, 1978 in Camarillo, died peacefully on Feb. 18, 2011 at the family home in Oxnard with his loving wife at his side.
Mark's lifelong ambition was to serve in the military, and shortly after graduating from Rio Mesa High School, he enlisted in the Army. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he ventured on to pursue a career in truck driving. When Mark was not going to school, or working full time, he spent every other moment he had riding his bike as far as time would permit. He completed truck driving training at Pima College in Tucson, Ariz. He worked first as a cross county driver before returning to Southern California to pursue his career locally.
In May of 2004 Mark and Nichole married and began their life as a family. Regardless of the challenges Mark faced in life, his family always remained his highest priority. When not at work or studying, he loved spending time playing with his children, taking them on long walks, shopping trips, and visits to the park. His natural sense of humor and playful nature always made spending time with Mark great fun!! Mark was a one-of-a-kind man, for those of us that were fortunate enough to know him, we will be forever changed.
Mark is survived by a loving family, including his wife, Nichole; daughters, Sedona (6) and Hailey (5); parents, Bob and Laura Brickley; brother, Paul Brickley; sister, Kathleen Jones; nephews, Jaden Jones and Paul Brickley, Jr.; nieces, Jasmine, Justice and Jaida Jones; aunt, Eileen (George) Todd; uncle, Robert (Linda) Callis; parents-in-law, Ken and Pegi Stenberg; and his dogs, Jack and Coco. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Joe and Alice Graham, Cecil and Calla Brickley, and brother-in-law, James Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, at Mount Cross Lutheran Church, 105 Camino Esplendido, Camarillo. Burial and reception will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may by made in Marks name to the American Heart Association, Mount Cross Lutheran Church, or the charity of your choice.

This is such a sad time for all of us. We will cherish our memories of Mark.
Mark meant a lot to me – I recall that he and I could talk about anything. It was always a joy to be with him and to enjoy his quick wit and wacky sense of humor. Even when he was a child he was so funny he kept his friends and family laughing. When he was little he wrote a story about My Wild Thing – a take off of the Maurice Sendak children’s story Where the Wild Things Are. And then there was his Chinese-character response to his social studies question about China.
Mark wanted to be in good physical shape and enjoyed lifting weights, biking, and walking. Once, he and I hiked together on a trail high above the Pacific Ocean near Malibu – what a wonderful chance to spend some time alone with my nephew, Mark.
He was so proud to have served in the Army. And he learned a lot about himself while being a long-distance truck driver. The scary stories he shared with me worried me so – and I was so glad that he made a sensible decision to pursue his career locally.
Mark meant something special to each of us. He loved his mom and dad, loved being brother to Paul and to Kathleen - and he especially enjoyed being Uncle Mark to PJ, Jasmine, Jaden, Justice and Jaida.
Mark’s life was made complete when he married his beautiful wife, Nichole, and had the joy of raising two lovely girls, Sedona and Hailey.
Mark was such a character – a very special guy. He could be loving, joke around, be serious as a great friend, and for me Mark was a sweet – very sweet - nephew.
Thank you, Mark, for your love and for the joy you have brought to your family and to your friends. We are so thankful for having you in our lives and we cherish those special times together. You live in my heart forever.
Love to you my dear nephew, from your Aunt Eileen

Nicole & Family
I'm deeply saddened by your loss.
I will cherish Our K-MART memories. I worked with Mark (aka Turtle) for sometime. He was one of my favorites! And he knew it... I treated him as if he where one of my own..I retired from K-mart and moved on, and I never saw him again.. But... I thought of him often.. It was not so long ago that I asked around for him..
What I would have given to just see him one more time before moving away.
May he rest in peace

The most sad part of this whole tragedy, is that it takes the death of a life changing man, for people to come together and say what they mean. Why could'nt these things be said to Mark before he passed away. One thing I know is that mark cared about so many people, He would have and has done anything for someone he cared about. One thing that should be engraved in our minds and souls, is that if you have something to say; SAY IT! If there is someone out there that you care about even if it has been a long time; CARE FOR THEM! There is no time to waste. Make your Amends
