Mark Dorr passed away Jan. 29, 2010 surrounded by family and close friends. He was 52.
He was gifted with an extremely brilliant mind but enjoyed the simple things in life. Mark was born Jan. 21, 1958 to John and Arlene Dorr of rural Erskine, Minn., where his core came from roots of unselfishness, fairness and respect. He relocated to California in the early eighties and became a restaurateur as a career choice.
One of his favorite hotels he enjoyed working was "The Dining Room" at the Ritz Carlton in Rancho Mirage where he held the position as Maitre d'. Mark was a passionate writer, highly political, loved fishing with his son, enjoyed a great game of golf.
He welcomed any game that challenged the mind. Music moved him and he had great wit and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his family. He was a great teacher of life. A beautiful soul. Everything he did, he did well. He will be profoundly missed by those lives he touched.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, John Dorr. Mark is survived by his wife and love of 20 years, Debra; son, Alexander; mother, Arlene; brothers, Vincent (Carmen), Karl (Lynne); sisters, Lesia (Kevin) Juve and Lynette (Paul) Kaster; mother-in-law, Miwako McCain; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Jim) Rix and Katherine (David) Moffa; 18 nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

I remember Mark so well. I worked with him as a manager at Red Lobster. Mark was funny, smart, supportive and a great mentor. I am a better Manager today because of Mark. My thoughts and prayers go out to Debra, Alex and family. Mark was a huge influence in my life and will be missed. God Bless you all.
