Today the shock has begun to wear off and for the first time I felt the full affect of a world without Mary. Such a shocking and terrible loss. Mary became my friend about 20 years ago when we met at life drawing class at Moorpark College. We became and remained fast friends. Throughout the years even after she suddenly lost her beloved husband and had to handle everything on her own; her challenges with caring for Caroline, for her own mother, and for her son, she conducted herself with grace, humor ,wit and optimism. She was an amazing person and as my husband says, a saint walking among us. Generally we spent part of one day each week together. For the first few years it was the weekly art class...For a few years we met at the Westlake Village Inn to draw the statues and scenery More recently these last few years we met at the Thousand Oaks mall each Monday. Mostly just to walk and talk and sometimes to shop. Usually her shopping was for her Mom or for Caroline. I called her Cinderella as she always had to leave the mall by 12:15 PM sharp so that she would be certain to be home in time to meet daughter Caroline returning from her special needs program. On Sundays I would text Mary to confirm that we were meeting the following day.. Monday February tenth was the last time I saw her. I still see her smiling and waving as she dashed off. She was perfectly fine that day. Little did anyone know what sadness that Wednesday morning would bring. I will always remember and miss Mary. Reminders of her are everywhere. She helped me find a beautiful dress for my nephews wedding this past November...as well as the important but mundane all cotton black tops for painting and the beautiful dressy skirt that this past Christmas she insisted I buy because it was so pretty; it will always be my Mary skirt. . Mary was a dear dear person and I will forever miss her friendship. I hope she is now with Peter and from heaven guiding the way forward for their two beloved children. Miss you Mary, you were a great friend and a true inspiration....❤ Anne

Mary is one of the most caring, giving human beings ever. Her life has been one of care and devotion to the people who depended on her and her friends. I am proud to call her friend and thankful for her gift. I will always miss her.

I love you, Mary. May you be at peace now ... we will promise always to keep your memory alive.
