Michael Stevenson Glass, amazing husband, father, step-father, son and brother, died suddenly May 2, 2009.
Mike was born July 25, 1961 in Takapuna, New Zealand to Anne and James M. Glass, and moved to the United States in 1990 when he married Kristen Glass, mother to his two beautiful daughters, Brittany and Morgan. Mike shared his life with Stephanie since 2002; they were only recently married in spring of 2009.
Mike's life was replete with sports and the outdoors. He was a well respected employee of Telcom Inc of Oxnard for many years, and an employee of Motorola prior to that. In Mike's youth he competed in the International Body Building arena and placed quite highly for many years. He was also involved with the International Body Building Federation while living in New Zealand's Auckland area, and the owner of two Gold's Gyms. Mike's daughter, Morgan, best sums up the beautiful life we shared with Mike. "I remember we played games you wouldn't play with anyone else; and we played in the pool forever; and we rode our bikes together; and laughed at and with each other; and went to the beach; and skim boarded together; and made golf ball sling shots and bumpers for the jet skis and sticky chopsticks to get my earrings out of my bed; and we went jet skiing and did school projects together; and you never said that all the good times and happiness and fun would ever end. I will always remember you, Dad, and always love you."
Mike will always be missed and loved by his wife, Stephanie Glass; daughters Morgan and Brittany Glass; stepdaughters Heather, Katharine and Elisabeth McLean; stepsons James McLean and his wife Crystal, and Andrew McLean; step-granddaughters Alexandra and Aurora; father James M. Glass; brother James M. Glass; sister Susan Glass; and ex-wife Kristen Glass.
Mike's ashes will be scattered at sea from his jet skis by family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.

With Christmas approaching it seems very strange not to be sending a card to our Californian couzzie. Usually we write about what we've been up to over the past year but no doubt you've been keeping tabs on us all and already know. You may not have a direct influence on us now but that's not necessarily a bad thing! After all, there were times when we didn't want you to be hands on. Like the time you tried to get us to come along to your gym in Glenfield. We were about to but then found out that another cousin had already joined and your motto was "no pain, no gain!" He couldn't even take his jacket off without assistance! Then there was the time I told you I was off to University. You were pleased but then added... "If I ever see you on the news in one of those protest marches, you'll have me to answer to!" You always were our protective cousin and we knew we could come to you at any time. We miss you. Merry Christmas Mike. xxx

Mike was my big brother and wonderful Dad to the girls Brittany and Morgan. I was so proud of Mike, as a Dad he gave the girls the best gift and that was the sense of adventure and life Brittany summed it up recently when she told our Dad (Grandad) that coming to New Zealand with her Dad and Morgan was the best trip ever and now more than ever she said she would be back. I loved watching him take the girls to his favourite Kiwi places we enjoyed as kids and adults and watching his face as the girls enjoyed themselves
with family and friends down under .That was the last time I saw Mike but we spoke often and it didn't matter that we were so far away we were always on the same page with humour and family. In business you always gave me the right advice and always had my back I will miss you deeply always, I see your spirit in my own little boy who just happens to have those sparkly cheeky blue eyes the same as his Uncle Mike we love you and I will always look out for your girls be at peace and take care of Mum . xxxx

Mike, I only briefly spent time with you about four times, but I am so glad that I got to meet you. You have the heart of gold, something I caught onto the moment I met you. I loved how every time I came over, you were either eating pasta and chicken, watching ultimate fighting, or drinking an ice cold beer. I still feel your kindness in my heart, and I will carry you with me forever, I promise you that. You are the kind of person that even if I had only met you once, it would have been enough to make you be remembered for a lifetime. Thank you for showing me true kindness. May you rest in peace.

Mike was a wonderful father. He took Brittany and Morgan on great adventures. They hiked, went bike riding, played at the beach, and had a terrific time together. I am sad that he won't be here to watch them grow up.

I recently met Mike again with his beautiful Daughter at Christina & Clif's party, the first time was a couple of years ago at a similar party. It's not hard to understand why so many will miss you, the tough exterior turned endearing when you'd speak about your Family, especially your daughters!

Mike, it was a gift to be with you, every time again. Your hospitality was legendary and your warm welcome to every guest, no matter if you had known them for many years or just met them for the first time, was a reflection of your beautiful spirit. It was so clear to me that your heart was in the right place, full of love for your children, for your family and for your friends. Although I will miss your presence, your passion for life will always be an inspiration to me. Your memory will live on forever.

Mike was in a few words, a passionate man with more than a couple people who cared for him. He was like my father for almost a decade, if it were not for this warm helpful man I don't believe I would have made it through my teen years into adulthood. Even now, not having him here when I need to change my spark plugs..... It doesn't feel right, I will always remember your kind eyes, your humor and your willingness to always help. I will love you forever, you were the most important man I have ever had in my life.

So many wonderful memories fill our hearts. Mike was not only a devoted dad to Brit and Morgan, but took my kids under his wings on many occasions. They had some of the greatest adventures with Mike.... camping, skiing, kayaking, riding motorcycles. Mike had so much spirit and love-of-life to share with the kids and everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. We will never forget him.

Brittney and Morgan,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you both. I had the pleasure of working with your dad. He was a great great person inside and out. Everyday we would talk about our lives, he always talked about how proud he was of his two number one girls. He loved you so much. Mike was a dear friend to me, I will miss him coming through the doors at work saying "Hey Kid" and I will miss my dear friend just being able to talk to while we were working. Mike I will see you in Heaven one day. You will be missed very much.

You were and always will be my best friend; we shared some tough moments and dark days, as well as some wonderful moments! We've been through thunderstorms and blizzards, seen the sun rise over mountain tops and set over ocean horizons. We've ridden at 115mph and laughed as we cruised past the Harley struggling to do 90...we've danced on tables, crashed down mogul runs, jumped cornices, shared Tequilla, Jagermiester, wine and beer, cussed as our teams played like crap. We've fought and laughed and cried and talked, discussed women, kids, economics, physics, religion, politics and combat, usually while tossing back a cold beer in a hot Jacuzzi. While you are gone physically, I know you will never truly be gone from any of us, and I will always hold onto the thought of you being near.

Over the years you became like a big brother to me. No one else was allowed to tackle me, or put a vice grip on my leg without dire consequences. The loss of you is tremendous. Jerry and I will toast you ... again ... on our first ride to the wineries.
