Michael Moore Obituary

Michael Charles Moore passed away on June 24, 2007, of critical injuries suffered in a car accident on the previous day.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1985. Michael spent his childhood years in Valencia, Calif., and moved to Thousand Oaks in 1999. He attended Thousand Oaks High School, served as Senior Class vice president, and valued the teachers and friends who influenced his life perspective in so many positive ways.

Michael graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a degree in political science in June 2007. A member of the UCI Model United Nations team and active in the International Students Association, he had a strong interest in global conflict resolution and was preparing for a career in government and foreign affairs.

Michael was bright, talented, articulate, and eager to experience all that life had to offer. He was well-informed and enjoyed lively debates on politics and world issues. He loved all types of music and played piano, bass, and guitar with color and passion. Through determination and hard work, he excelled at soccer and long-distance running.

A coach, a mentor, and an inspiration to people of all ages, Michael was an exceptional young man who genuinely cared and reached out to others. He was everyone's big brother and everyone's best friend.

Michael's love, hugs, and laughter will always be with his parents, Cheryl and Steve Moore; brother, Patrick; aunts and uncles, Linda and Bill Ford, Dara and Bob Ford; cousins, Leanne, Russell, Lindsey, Randall, Alex, and Emily; and many, many friends.

The public is invited to attend a celebration of Michael's life at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Samuelson Chapel, California Lutheran University, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Michael's memory to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County, http://www.bbsvc.org:8080/news.jsp.

Very sad that the world had to loose such a good guy and a sharp person who had a lot to offer. Even though I didn't know your son he sounded like a fantastic guy. Sometimes things, for whatever reason, are not fair. May God comfort you in this tragic time. I am sure the years that you did have with your son were good ones. We pray that God will help you through this!
