Michael Scott Obituary

Michael Scott, or "Darf" as he was known to his friends, passed away at his home in Sacramento, Calif., on Monday, June 30, 2008, after a sudden illness. He was 32 years old.

Michael was born in Oxnard, on April 22, 1976. He graduated from Rio Mesa High School in 1994 where he was a member of the wrestling and track and field teams, excelling in both the shot put and discus. He was an avid New York Giants fan, a great cook, a lover of all things medieval, mystical or relating to the martial arts, and was especially gifted with computers. Most of all, Michael was a son, a brother, nephew, cousin and a friend to many who mourn the passing of a man who was truly "Larger than Life."

Michael was an enthusiastic, gregarious man whose infectious laugh, sharp wit, biting sense of humor and keen intellect will be missed by all those who knew him. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Warren Scott.

He is survived by his fiancée, Jamie Young of Sacramento; mother, Nancy McLaren, and stepfather, Daniel McLaren, both of Oak View; stepmother Julie Scott of Oregon; his sister, Cindy Scott; future in-laws Steve and Melanie Young; his beloved cat, Nimbus; and many other relatives and friends, all of whom loved him dearly.

A service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, in Ventura, with a reception to follow at Soule Park in Ojai.

"In one of the stars, I shall be living.

In one of them, I shall be laughing.

And so it will be as if all the stars Were laughing when you look

At the sky at night."

— "The Little Prince," Antoine de Saint-Exupery
