I met Mrs. Scruggs several years back at a very happy event to celebrate the occasion of placing one of her bronze sculptures at The North Carolina Arboretum. The "Oh Great Spirit" sculpture stands in tribute to her talents. I send my sincere sympathy to each and every one of her family and extended family during this time of loss. Blessings All.

I know I speak for all in the Lee H. Edwards High School Class of ‘48 when I say Nell was highly respected and loved by all of us. Her quiet and loving demeanor was always present, and will remain the quality that will touch our hearts as we remember Nell.
