Ruben Colmenero Obituary
Ruben Michael Colmenero, 52, passed away in the comfort of his home on May 27th, 2014 with his wife by his side.
Ruben was born on November 3rd, 1961 in Oxnard, CA and was a proud resident of the Colonia Community. Ruben was a fun, loving, and humorous man. He loved to make people laugh and was always the center of attention. Throughout his life, Ruben worked as an offshore oil driller throughout Ventura County, then later as a crane operator and consultant for various off shore oil drilling companies. Ruben had a sweet tooth and lived his life on the edge, proudly.
Growing up, Ruben enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a man of his word and helped when he could. He enjoyed being by the beach and fishing. In his later years, Ruben also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his lovely wife, family and his dog, Lola.
Ruben is survived by his wife, Amy Colmenero, his children, Crystal, Celina, Jovanna, Michelle and Joseph, his grandchildren, Erika, Amanda, Abigail, Brandon and Nicolas and siblings Dean and Fred Colmenero and Cynthia Likens as well as many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Jimmy and Frances Colmenero, and brother Jimmy Jr. Colmenero. He will forever be missed.
Visitation will be from held 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at Garcia Mortuary Chapel in Oxnard. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Oxnard. Amy so very sorry for your loss and to the rest of the Colmenero family also. Ruben was a great friend we shared many crazy times together and when we apart for long duartions we always found each other on the outside as if we were never apart the oilfields are what you make of them and I think we did pretty good end the end I will miss my brother but will never forget him till we meet again.

There are just not enough words to express when you lose some one you deeply love.
Your truly a beautiful person with a good heart. We have shared lots of tears, lots of laughter, throughout the years.

Words can't express the sadness in our hearts. Ruben "Buzzard" was truly loved by our family. We will always hold on to the fondest memories of Ruben hanging out at "El Taquito" with "Taco Boy: Arturo. These two guys were inseparable! I worked offshore for 6 years, it was then I had the privilege of meeting and working with Ruben. He was a hard worker a stand up guy that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. My condolences to the Colmenero family.
