Rudolph T. Heftye, 80, of Camarillo passed away Sept. 16, 2007, in his home surrounded by his family.
Rudy was born March 12, 1927, in Lynn, Mass., to Rudolph T. Heftye Sr. and Christina Bunting. He was a resident of Ventura County for 29 years, making his home in Camarillo.
He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army for 7 and 1/2 years, serving in World War II and the Korean War. Rudy married Alice Jones on July 28, 1956, and together they enjoyed 51 years of marriage. A Camarillo resident for 29 years, Rudy was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Rudy was a brilliant man, with bachelor's and master's degrees in business and a doctorate in philosophy. As a mechanical engineer at Hycon Manufacturing Co., he helped to protect the United States through the design and development of surveillance cameras, two of which were patented and one of which is currently on display in the Pentagon. Following his years at Hycon, he was the director of the industrial division for the Department of Defense at Lockheed in Burbank until he retired in 1987.
He loved his family, hockey, skiing and the UCLA Bruins. He devoted years of service as a Royal Arch Mason in the Masonic Lodge and in 2006 he received a 50-year Golden Veteran's Award from the Grand Lodge Masons of California.
He leaves behind his wife, Alice Heftye; children, Wayne, Nicole and Derek Heftye; grandchildren, Drew, Garrett, Erik, Nigel and Stacey Heftye; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura, CA 93003.
Assisting the family with their arrangements is Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 805-642-8134.

Dear Heftye family
We were very sorry to see that Rudy had passed on. We will always remember his wit and intelect. He was a most enjoyable person who will be missed by all who knew him.
P.S. I hope he remembers to take his copy of Funk's Origin of Words with him.

Alice:
I am so very sorry to learn of the loss of your dear husband Rudy, my prayers and thoughts are with you in your time of sorrow. Look to the Lord to provide you with the strength that you need to get through this difficult time and the love of your family especially your grandsons who were more like you and Rudy's children instead of grandchildren. Be strong and prayful. As God knows best even though sometimes we do not understand why things happen the way that they do God is the answer, you are a very strong woman and have been through alot. If he can bring you to it he will certainly see you through it keep the faith!
