Tony Torres Obituary

Tony Martinez Torres Jr.

Oxnard, CA

Tony M. Torres Jr. passed away on October 8th, 2016 at the age of 64. Beloved father, grandpa, and friend, he was loved by many and will be missed by all. Born and raised in Oxnard, he was always surrounded by family even in his sudden but final days. Tony lost his life to cancer, but we will remember him for how caring, giving, funny, humble, and family oriented he was. He went to Moorpark College after graduating from Oxnard High School and CSU Northridge where he was Sophomore Class president and got involved in the Chicano movement in the 1970's before meeting his wife, Arcie. He spent his life in construction before being self-employed as a handyman. He was also a drummer for many years in the local band he started, Hot Sauce, before playing in the worship team at South Coast Fellowship years later.

Tony is preceded in death by his father, Antonio Sr. He is survived by his mother Catalina, sister Maria, brothers Art and Adrian, wife of 39 years- Arcie, sons and daughters- in-law: Tony III, Brian (Claudia), Ted (Kassie), Daniel, and daughter Bianca (Gerrit). Twelve grandchildren, Angel, Joshua, Gabriel, Briana, Alisia, Liliana, Alexandra, Noah, Kali, Teddi, Valentina, and Victoria.

Tony was generous and loving; always holding and picking up his grandchildren at any opportunity. He was the grill master at all family gatherings, and the first to give a speech or say grace. When Tony gave his life to God, he did his best to bring others to him as well. He ministered to his clients he worked with and brought many souls to the first steps of salvation.

The devastating loss to his family was a shock as nobody knew he had such widespread cancer through out his body. He was working, swimming, and drumming as usual before being taken to the hospital with a grim diagnosis. He spent his last days surrounded by his family and the caregivers from Vitas hospice that did a great job keeping him as comfortable as possible. The world is a little colder without the warmth of his gentle heart and Tony will be dearly missed. We will always love you Dad!

I remember being at his house and when he would come home from work he would chase me around and act as if he was a monster

I am so sorry for your loss. We did not find out until today (April 24, 2017) about Tony passing away. We got to know him for the years of work he had done at our home. We shared our faith in the Lord and he was always kind and cheerful. Our hearts ache hearing of his sudden passing, but we know that he is in Heaven, sharing in the joy of Christ.

Arce and Family
I am in shock and disbelief at Tony's sudden passing. I met you and Tony years ago, through my then husband Eddie Lopez. I always admired you and Tony for the obvious strong love the two of you had for one another and for your children. You were always his number one priority! I can only imagine how difficult this is for you.
I hope it helps to know there are many praying for you and your family and that you are comforted by the awareness and the actual comfort our Father can provide.
With deep sympathy and prayers,
Sandra Lopez

Arcie, this is Jr. Perez, Eddies brother. I just now read about Tony, I send you my sincerest condolences and to your family. I clearly remember the very last time I talked with Tony. It was at the grocery store on Ventura Road and Gonzalez. You were there as well. We talked briefly, said our hellos and goodbyes. It was like yesterday, but I've always felt you guys were my friends. And now to hear that he is gone makes it tough for anyone who knew Tony. We got to jam in the old band days too. He always had a great smile and treated people good and made them feel a special part of his life. He was funny too, and he had that sense of humor that we would crack up laughing so hard. That's what I remember about my old friend, and you. You always had that special glimpse for him. He was blessed to have you as his wife. Arcie, I wish I could be there to show support, I'll be there in spirit. We will see him again soon. The Bible says that, to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord...With much Love, Lionicio "Jr." Perez
