Warren Lovingfoss Obituary

Warren John Lovingfoss, 77, died April 15, 2008, in Ventura. His passing was in the middle of the night from old age.

Warren lived in Ventura for 36 years. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1953 as a petroleum engineer. He worked for Texaco in Louisiana and Continental Oil Co. in Houston, Texas, until 1972 before moving to California. He worked for Continental until 1980. He then started his own business and was president of Lovingfoss & Bowman Petroleum Consultants. He worked in the oil patch until 2003, at which time he retired. During the last five years, he spent time with family, grandkids and traveling.

Warren was involved in many civic, religious and outside activities. He attended First Baptist Church of Ventura, was a Mason, chairman of Society of Petroleum Engineers, involved in church missions in Russia, Project Understanding in Ventura and chairman of the Diaconate to name just a few.

His hobbies included fishing, boating, watching Texas A&M football games, attending Ventura High Girls' basketball games, morning walks to McDonald's for coffee and eating at Carrows.

Warren truly enjoyed being a father and grandfather and is survived by a large and loving family, including the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Ada L. Lovingfoss; dearly loved children, John Lovingfoss, Debbie Illuminate (husband Dave), Kim Lovingfoss, Susie Ito (husband George) and Donald Lovingfoss (wife Chris); and grandchildren, Jackie, David, Bradley, Lindsey, Shelby, Steven, Connor, Logan and Kaitlyn.

Dad will be greatly missed by all of them, as well as his many friends and colleagues. We know that out of all of the things, he wants to be remembered by his faith, trust and obedience to Jesus Christ, his number one priority. From this, all his blessings flowed. Although his death is sorrowful, we also know that he is in heaven and being comforted. The Bible tells us that Jesus was comforting his followers before his death and resurrection: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." —John 14:1-6

Viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. The funeral will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at First Baptist Church, 426 S. Mills Road, Ventura.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to First Baptist Church, (directed toward missions) or project understanding, P.O. Box 25460, Ventura, CA 93002-2280.

To the Lovingfoss Family we extend our deepest sympathies. I have many fond memories of Warren from our years on Jackson Street. He was always friendly and quick to laugh at our shenanigans, just a good neighbor all around. Chris and I are truly sorry for your loss and wish you much comfort and love from your family and friends.

To Mrs. Lovingfoss and Family,

Our deepest sympathies. Warren always greeted me with "Howdy partner". I think he took a piece of Texas with him. He was kind and gracious and we were privileged to know him.

Memories of our short-term mission trip to Simferopol, Ukraine with Warren and three others from First Baptist Church in 1998 are among my fondest. Since then it has been my pleasure to help with the Email communication between the church there and Warren.
