William Vaughn Obituary

William R. Vaughn

Ventura, CA

In the early morning hours of Sunday the twenty eighth of February, William R. Vaughn left this world at the young age of 66.

He was called Bill by his friends, of which he had more than a few good ones, and BV by a choice few.

Born in the county of Ventura and raised on Sudden Ranch in Saticoy, Bill was a local boy who grew up fast to become a man who was strong, kind and sometimes pretty funny.

Forty years he spent with Southern California Edison climbing power poles and working his way up, but his true accomplishments were those of a husband, father and fisherman. The purchase of his boat "N Deep" was the realization of a dream for Bill and he spent his best years on the ocean with his wife Penny. While he sometimes seemed tough (especially to a fish) it was only because he expected from everyone the same high standard he expected from himself. He was really just an honest and gentle man.

A little over three years ago Bill became one of the many who suffer with ALS. He dealt with the disease with strength and humor, always finding ways to laugh and get through the days. In the end he got what he wanted, to be surrounded by the people he loved. Lucky are we who knew BV.

Bill is preceded in death by Dale and Patricia Vaughn. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Penny, his daughter Tracy Grove (John, Kayla, Johnny), Athena Marsh (Phil)( Roy, Jay, Theo) and Brer Marsh, his sisters Kandy Klope (Bob) and Mickie Butterbaugh (Jim),his brothers John Vaughn (Lori) and Kelly Vaughn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration for Bill will be held Saturday March 19th from 1-4pm. Please phone 805-643-6001 or email [email protected] for details. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to ALS Golden West Chapter.

I was very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Bill and I started with the Edison Company at the same time. I retired early but Bill continued to work. Bill was a good man with a big heart. I will not forget all the car pools to Valencia they were some good times. I hope Penny and Mickey and the entire family are doing the best that can be done in this time of sadness.RIP BILL

I want to send my sympathies. Bill was the one person at SCE that gave me my chance to move up to a better position. I will always remember Bill because he backed me every step of the way. I could always speak with him and he would listen and try to help. Best Wishes Bill and his family.
