Patrick Hertzner Obituary

Patrick Hertzner
Born: March 17, 1943 in Rockford, IL
Died: November 12, 2021 in DeKalb, IL
Patrick Hertzner, 78 of DeKalb, IL, passed away peacefully after a long struggle against COVID related ailments November 12, 2021.
Pat was born March 17, 1943 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Clinton and Evelyn (Friedlund) Johnson.
Pat was adopted by Clinton and Evelyn and this put his life on a new path. Pat graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1963, where he met the love of his life, Carol. Pat was the picture of hard work and enjoyed middle of the night phone calls to fix broken water mains or to plow snow. He loved NASCAR and all things related to his soulmate, Carol. He spent most of his adult life working for the City of DeKalb and loved the peace of mowing at the airport or on the river levees. If you were friends with Pat, you knew this because he would do anything for you. As an honorary Irishman, you know what to do to honor him.
Pat is survived by his wife, Carol (Wales) Hertzner, DeKalb, his children, Donna Hertzner (Alex Dockery), William Hertzner, and Brad Hertzner, four grandchildren, Alexander, NaTasha (Brett), Loren, KaLee and two great-grandchildren, Niellie and Av'a.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clarence (Bud) and sister Henri (Sis) and one great-grandson, Lo'Mauri.

I was sorry to read of Pat's passing. I remember him as a person who worked hard at his job wanting to do it right. I never heard Pat raise his voice at anyone. He was always will to help you out. The lingering image of Pat that I will always have is his mowing with his little John Deere all summer.

Very sad to hear of your dad´s passing and send love to all of you & your mom. Some of the best times we´re at Grandma & Grandpa´s farm & when you would come up to Belvidere spur of the moment on a Saturday night and the adults would play cards. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
