Leonard Wade Wood
Dec. 9, 1935 – Jan. 6, 2025

Celebration of Life services for Leonard Wade Wood, 89, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at View Acres Baptist Church in Berryhill.
Mr. Wood was born on Dec. 9, 1935, in Sallisaw to Leonard Adrian and Virgie Betty Wood. He passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.
After graduating from Sallisaw High School, he went on to play basketball at Connors State College and Northwestern State University. After obtaining his master's degree, he dedicated 40 years to the education system, serving as a teacher, coach, and administrator. His most notable role was as Superintendent of Berryhill Schools. He enjoyed his cattle ranch and horses, and traveling with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Joyce Eileen Wood; daughter, Kimberly Scrivner; son, Les Wood; one grandson; brothers-in-law, Gene Williams and Bobby Williams and wife Darlene; sister, Sandra Blair and husband Doug; and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Dillon Scrivner.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to to the charity or organization of your choice.
