Sorry to hear. Sam was a great doctor we were not in same area but often ate lunch together. I remember him complaining a lot about all the problems with having a swimming pool at home. Ha
He administered anesthesia to me twice and was very good with me.

I have to say I did not know this family or this man Samuel Carter that died. It does say that he was born in muldrow, Oklahoma and went to vian school which that's where I graduated high school and this area is where I am from. I so impressed with the accomplishments he and his wife have made and their family. This is one extraordinary family that I think I've ever read about and I really do send my heartfelt condolences. Also I would like to say my mother was a Carter her maiden name. She is from Webber falls, Oklahoma.

Uncle Sam was such a nice person. I babysat for him through the summer in the 1970s. He had a distinguished chuckle when he laughed. He loved his orange pineapple ice cream. He took me bowling. It was my first time ever bowling. He cooked a pot of pinto beans and yes he made jiffy cornbread , again that was a first for me too. He was a very kind man and he made me feel so appreciated. I will cherish my memories of my uncle. Rih Uncle Sam

To the family of Dr Samuel Carter I send my condolences. Sam was one of my all time favorite anesthesiologists to work with at St Joes. He also cared for me as a patient. I always felt in my heart I was working alongside a fellow believer and follower of Jesus Christ. His kind and gentle demeanor to patients and work colleagues exemplified Galatians 5:22. I know you are saddened by his absence, but you have a hope for a future reunion. May the presence of the Holy Spirit pour over each of you as a healing balm. To God be the glory for a life well lived!

Dr. Carter was one of the first people I worked with when I came to Saint Joe as a new nurse in 1977. He was loving calm and supportive. He always had a joke and a kind word to say to everyone. He easily gained the trust of his patience, and everyone who worked with him. The thought of him will always bring a smile to my face. He even lived in our subdivision, Georgetown for many many years. He will certainly be missed

As a surgeon I was with Dr Carter innumerable times in the OR. Whenever he was at the head of the OR table I knew it was going to be a good day: safe, in control, and also enjoyable. He knew his anesthesia and did it the right way. And, he knew how to create an environment of calmness. As with the best of doctors, he knew how to gain trust from patients very quickly. Late one night, on the floor, one of my patients with a most difficult airway issue had a sudden turn. Sam and a second anesthesiologist and I struggled using extraordinary and creative measures and managed to save the patient. Having Sam there was critical and comforting, like being in the foxhole under fire. What a good man. We surgeons loved the guy and remember him with great fondness.

I worked with Dr. Carter at St. Joe in the ASF ( Ambulatory Surgery Center), preop, OR and recovery. He had a sense of people, he was two steps ahead before you knew anything was happening! He was a kind and wonderful sense of humor. The earth has lost an angel. I hope there are many buffet up in heaven . My sincere sympathy for the family, God bless. Ann Nichols
