Patsy Messer Obituary
PATSY MYERLENE MESSER, age 77 of Jockey Bottom Branch, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at her residence. Born in Haysi, Virginia she was a daughter of the late Lindel McCoy and Flora Velva Combs Deel. She was a graduate of Haysi High School and a member of Big Prater Baptist Church. She was employed as an executive assistant in Michigan, prior to moving back to Dickenson County, and worked at Fast Mart and JDM after returning home and was an accomplished cake decorator.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forster Norman Messer; brothers, Homer Deel and Jarel Deel; a sister, Glenna Owens; and two half-sisters, Bonnie Bailey and Helen Johnson.
Survivors include a son, Michael Scott (Roxanna) Messer, Dryden, VA; a daughter, Jennifer Beth Messer, Haysi, VA; two grandsons, Ryan Gabriel Messer, Dryden, VA and Colten Reed Messer, Haysi, VA; a sister, Mary Lou (Lloyd) Duty; a brother, Clifton (Wanda) Deel; and a brother-in-law, Ferl Owens.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Haysi Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Lindsay officiating. Visitation began at 1:00 p.m. with a Singspiration at 2:00.
