Deborah Spurling Obituary

Deborah June Spurling

July 22, 1950 - Jan. 28, 2017

Tulare

Deborah June Spurling of Tulare, California, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the age of 66.

She is survived by her daughter Tiffany McClure and son Dustin Spurling, her grandchildren Taylor McClure and Dawson Spurling, her mother Joyce Jones, and her sisters Dolores Borden and Chiquita Borum as well as Linda Jones, the wife of her late brother, Riley Jr.

Debby was born July 22, 1950 in Checota, Oklahoma to parents Riley and Joyce Jones. As a toddler, she, along with her parents and siblings, moved from Oklahoma out to California. She was raised, went to school, and spent nearly all of her life here in Tulare. Her working life was spent waitressing as a young lady, and later running Revelation Dresses with her older sister Dolores. However, nothing mattered more or meant as much to Debby as her family and friends. There are few people in this world more caring or giving than she. She gave everything she had and more to the raising of her children. The birth of each of her grandchildren brought an enormous amount of joy to her life. Grandma Debby developed a special bond with her granddaughter, Taylor, and spent countless hours playing dolls, taking walks, and watching Disney movies. Though her time to see her younger grandson, Dawson, was short due to her illness, the moment they met was one of the brightest of her life. Few people will ever have seen a bigger smile, and he will always know his grandmother loved him dearly.

Anyone who knew Debby knows that there were few things she loved more than being outside on a bright, hot, summer day while popping her bubble gum with her lifelong friend, Judy. When the sun was out, there was little that could keep her indoors. Spending time with her family as well as her other lifelong friends Carol, Barbara, and Mary, held the most special place in her heart.

She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and all who knew her will miss her greatly. Services will be a private celebration of life for the family. Funeral Arrangements by Peers Lorentzen Funeral Service

This is very sad to read this obituary about Ms. Spurling's passing in 2017 and I just read about her daughter Tiffany McClure who passed July 2024 in Morro Bay. I can not locate an obituary for Ms. McClure who was only 47 when she passed.

I'm so sorry for the loss of this sweet long time friend. Debbie was always smiling. Her shy personality could sometimes surprise you with funny remarks that would just make you laugh. I have many fond memories of times spent with her in high school. We shared a common faith in God, and our parents had known each other for some time. Although in our adult years our visits were few there will be a feeling of loss in my heart for this dear friend who has gone to a better place. Heaven will be a great reunion for your family and friends. I pray for blessings and peace upon your family.

I will always love you Debby and cherish wonderful memories of a childhood that included you with our family on trips to Yellowstone and the Hollywood Bowl, cruising Tulare and so much more. You are the sweetest person I know and I am blessed to have had you a part of my life. I hope you are having a joyous reunion with Carol and Barbara, free of the pain and constraints of life on Earth.
