Dorothy Lorraine Pendleton

San Leandro, CA

Dorothy, a long time resident of San Leandro, CA., passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2017. She is the beloved wife of L. Conway Pendleton. They had 69 years together and she was the mother of three children. She is best remembered for her love of life, sense of humor and her community service.

She was born in Tulare, CA to Reed and Grace Shoemaker. She graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1944, where she was very active in her school clubs and played the piano, organ and cello for the school orchestra and her church. She was a member of Bethel 41 Jobs Daughters and served as Honored Queen. In 1948 Dorothy graduated from UCLA in apparel merchandising and remained lifelong friends with her Kappa Delta sisters and their families.

Dorothy was a cornerstone of many community activities that included scouting, sailing, swimming and theater. She worked tirelessly with her husband in their family printing business.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Conway and her three children: Reed (Cindy) Ann (Kevin) and Don. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughter Rose. She also leaves her brother Virgil (Donna) Shoemaker of Tulare, her nephew Woody Shoemaker of Manhattan, Kansas and her niece Claudia (Alvin) Borba of Tulare and their families. This lovely lady will be so missed by all her family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at her home church of over 65 years on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00AM, All Saints Episcopal Church, 911 Dowling Blvd., San Leandro, Ca.
