Gilbert Vasquez Obituary

Gilbert Vasquez 37, of Visalia, born and raised in Porterville, entered into eternal rest on May 25, 2009 in Santa Barbara, California. Gilbert was born on June 1, 1971 along with his twin brother, Albert, to Roberto and Anastacia Vasquez in Porterville, California. He attended Porterville High School. Gilbert met his future wife, Michele, in 1986 and had 4 sons; Gilbert Jr, Michael, Matthew, and Gabriel whom he adored. Gilbert worked along with his twin brother Albert in the construction/roofing business for over 20 years, all the while teaching many the trades. Gilbert enjoyed baseball, working, fishing, cooking, watching his sons play ball, and most importantly spending time with his family. He was "the life" of the party. He is very special to many people and will truly be missed. He is survived by his wife Michele Vasquez, his sons Gilbert Jr, Michael, Matthew, and Gabriel of Visalia. His grandson Jordan Vasquez of Visalia. His father Roberto Vasquez of Porterville. Four brothers Robert, Angel, Albert and Smiley of Porterville. His two sisters Josie Vasquez and Maggie Garcia both of Porterville. 16 Nephews and 10 nieces who all eagerly await our reunion in Heaven. Gilbert was preceded in death by his mother Anastacia Vasquez and his daughter Rochele Vasquez. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 2pm-7pm at Myers Funeral Chapel, Porterville. Memorial Service will be Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10am at Myers Chapel.

Our hearts go out to the Vasquez family. Andrea called yesterday to tell me about Gilbert's father. She is sad for her friend and wants to express her sympathy. She is currently living in the bay area and wont be able to attend his service, but she will be there in her heart.
