Glenna Haley Obituary

Glenna Jean Haley Glenna Jean Haley, 71, passed away on November 17, 2014 surrounded by friends, family and laughter. Glenna was born in Youngstown, Ohio but her family moved to California 3 days later. It always made us laugh that she still rooted for Ohio State and considered herself a "Buckeye!" Glenna worked for Tulare City Schools for 37 years as an instructional assistant. Her life not only revolved around her own 3 children, but also the hundreds of students who came through the doors of Mulcahy School. She had a heart for the especially tough kids and she was known for her compassion and discipline of these kids. Many students returned to thank her and you could not be out with her without several people stopping to hug and chat with her. After she retired, Glenna was recruited in 2005 by Sundale School to lead their character recognition programs. Here she continued to make an impact on kids' lives and filled the middle school staff lounge with luncheons and laughter. With her at the helm, Sundale School was consistently top ranked in Kids' Day donations for Children's Hospital Central California. The school was recently recognized by the California State Assembly for this work. All who knew Glenna didn't judge her by the size of her body, but realized that's the body that was needed to contain all the personality, warmth and heart of such a wonderful woman. Glenna was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Thomas Haley. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Fagundes (Doug) and her two sons; John Haley (Michelle) and Brian Haley (Trudy). She is also survived by six very loved grandchildren. The family is blessed by the many friends of Glenna who supported her and us even to her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be sent to: Sundale School 13990 Avenue 240 Tulare, CA 93274 A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Tulare. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM on Monday, 24, 2014 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Tulare. Burial will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Tulare District Cemetery on Kern St., Tulare, CA. A memorial tribute may be offered by logging onto www. salseranddillard.com
