Joe Nino, of Orosi, CA, passed away in Maryland near family on February 2, 2017.
Joe Nino was born in San Angelo, TX in 1945 to Leopoldo Nino and Asuncion Soto Nino. He is the third child of four children. One brother Ramiro Nino (deceased) and two sisters Lupe Samaniego and Romelia Castillo. He attended high school in Orosi and barber school in Fresno. After graduating high school in 1965 he worked as a barber and enlisted in the US Army Reserves as a cook for the 828th Medical Mash unit in Fresno. That same year he married Alma Bocanegra of Corpus Christie, TX. He later attended Westcoast Bible College. He worked as a barber, insurance agent and real estate broker. When he retired he continued to do ministry work for God. He was the Grand Marshall in the Orosi Veterans Parade in 2016.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ramiro Nino, and his father Leopoldo Nino. He is survived by his lovely wife of 50 years, Alma Nino, children JoeB Nino and Joel Nino, three grandchildren Megan Nino, Kara Nino, and Lea Nino and one daughter-in-law Nicole Chardonnens.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 5 p.m. at the Praise Center Church, 503 N. Floral St. in Visalia. A graveside service with be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 2 pm at Smith Mountain Cemetery, Dinuba. Reception to follow at the Dinuba Veterans Hall.
