Maurice Lamb Obituary

On October 17, 1920, Maurice Edwin Lamb was born to George and Laura Bell Lamb in Fowler, Colorado. He was third of their nine children. At the age of 19, Maurice became a traveling evangelist. During his early evangelistic ministry, not only would he preach his powerful sermons, he sang in a quartet and played a trumpet! In 1945, after a brief courtship (Maurice proposed to Reta-Jene Keener just two days after meeting her), they married 33 days later on June 1st in Alton, Illinois. They shared 64 wonderful years and were blessed with three children. Rev. Maurice E. Lamb was a pastor at several churches: Calvary Temple (1949 - 1966) in Waukegan, Illinois; in Crown Point, Indiana (1966 - 1968); Tujunga, California (1968 - 1970) and was an interim pastor for many other churches within California. In 2006, Maurice suffered a stroke which left him paralyzed and unable to talk. Unfortunately, he was never able to regain his speech or walk again. However, throughout those four years, God used his smile, his twinkling blue eyes and his spiritual witness to show God's great love to the nurses, aides and visitors. On Saturday, April 24, 2010, Maurice went to be with his Lord and Savior. His wife and twin daughters were at his side. Maurice was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His faithfulness in serving the Lord through his 70 years of ministry touched thousands of lives throughout the United States. His humor will be remembered by all who knew him. Maurice is survived by his loving wife, Reta-Jene and three children: Maurice Edwin Lamb, Jr.; twin daughters, Bonnie Robertson and Donnie Clark. Five grandchildren: Charissa Elipoulos, Jennifer DeSimas, Kenneth Lamb, J.R. Robertson and Rob Robertson; and three great-grandchildren: Grant Elipoulos, Trenton Elipoulos and Tyler Michael DeSimas. As a family, we celebrate his NEW Life and know that someday, we will be reunited with him! The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 11720 Avenue 264, Visalia, California 93277. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of him to Optimal Hospice Care, 5429Avenida De Los Robles, Suite D, Visalia, California 93291.
