Quinten A. Luallen

Graveside funeral services will be held at Lindsay Strathmore Public Cemetery on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 11 AM for Quinten A. Luallen, 92, of Lindsay, who passed away on October 13, 2011. Quinten was born June 25, 1919 in Salem, Illinois to James and Maud Luallen. He came to California and to Lindsay in 1928 with his family where he attended local schools. He married Hazel Alice Thompson on October 6, 1941 in Lindsay, shortly after he went on to serve proudly in the Army Air Corps from 1941-1945 in World War II. Quinten was stationed in Central and South America where one of his duties was to help protect the Panama Canal. Quinten worked for many years as a farmer in citrus, olives, pomegranates, nectarines, cotton and tomatoes. He was also a farm manager and owned businesses doing land leveling and pesticide spraying. Quinten was highly respected for his knowledge and hard work for over 50 years while on the Lindmore Irrigation District Board, Friant Power Authority and Friant Water Authority. He will also be remembered as an Elder at the Hermosa St. Church of Christ in Lindsay. Quinten is preceded in death by two brothers Thornton and Artie Luallen, one sister Dortha Branch. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Hazel Alice Luallen of Visalia, two sons Roger Adrian Luallen and wife Mary of Searcy, AR and Wayne Arthur Luallen and wife Donna of Visalia, CA, and one brother Herschell A. Luallen of Visalia, CA. Also surviving are two grandchildren Elisabeth Reagan and husband Chad and Jeremy Luallen and wife Rachael, and six great-grandchildren: Madison, Emma, Joshua and Anna Luallen and Michael and Caleb Reagan. Visitation will be held Monday, October 17, from 2 until 7 PM at Webb-Sanders Funeral Home in Lindsay.
