Tripta Gupta Obituary

Tripta Gupta

August 20, 1926 - December 16, 2016

Tulare

Tripta Gupta passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Friday, December 16, 2016, with her children and grandchildren by her side.

She was born as Tripta Kumari Aggarwal on August 20, 1926 to a family of successful farmers in the village of Phillaur. At the time of her birth, it was not customary for females to receive an education; however, she obtained an education through eighth grade at the village school. She was married at a young age to the late Sardari Lal (S.L. Gupta) who served in World War II in the Indian Military's Engineering Services.

For a woman who did not receive an extensive education, she was wise beyond her years and believed education was the key to success. This is why she ensured her five boys and her daughter were all well-educated: two of her sons are doctors, one is a retired Major in the Indian Army, another has a double Master's and carries on the family legacy of farming, the youngest son has a bachelor's, and the daughter has a Master's in Instrumental Music. Her children were her world and she spent night after night providing a loving home, and any resource they needed to be successful. They know that none of those accomplishments would have been possible without their mother. Her giving and loving nature continued into the later years of her life, which she spent in the United States with her children and grandchildren. The same devotion she showed to her children existed tenfold with her grandchildren who she always protected. Tripta instilled the same values of hard work and integrity in all of them.

Despite medical challenges throughout the later years of her life, Tripta never lost her smile. She exhibited a toughness that simply could not be matched, coupled with a happiness that never failed.

Tripta was preceded in death by her parents Walaiti Ram and Smt. Ram Rakhi; her husband Sardari Lal; and her five sisters and brother.

She is survived by her six children: Satish, Shashi, Vinod, Parmod, Anil, and Rajesh and their respective spouses: Meenu, Rajinder, Lovleen, Parul, Simar, Jennifer. She is also survived by her thirteen grandchildren: Sanchit, Ankit, Neera, Shaveta, Purnima, Paras, Nitin, Dipak, Vrinda, Navya, Tejasvi, Rachel, and Rhea.

The family thanks Tulare Regional Medical Center, and their exceptionally kind nursing staff for the wonderful care they provided. The family would also like to thank the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center for their specialized care.

A Memorial Service for Tripta will be held at Miller's Memorial Chapel, 1120 West Goshen Ave., Visalia, CA, on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
