Barbara A. Cheney

Enfield, NH - Barbara A Cheney, 80, was peacefully called home to her Heavenly Father on January 10, 2024. She was born in Cambridge Massachusetts to the late Edward R. and Pearl V. (Dean) Arthur She was one of eight children. She graduated from Cambridge High in Latin in 1962. She was member of the Cambridge Caballeros, drum and bugle Corps. It was while competing in Miami, Florida, that she met the Love of her life, who had traveled down to watch the competition. She married Theodore B Cheney, Jr. on August 31, 1963. They moved to Arlington Massachusetts in 1969 to raise their six children.

She worked alongside family members at Raytheon, in Waltham, Massachusetts, as well as Solar Power Corp. she also drove school bus for the Lexington school district.

Following the tragic death of her husband, she moved to Canaan NH, and later purchased her home in Enfield.

She was an avid crafter and belonged to the Mascoma crafters, she could be found at many craft fairs throughout the upper valley. She was a devoted Catholic and parishioners of St. Helena/St. Mary of Enfield and Canaan.

She was predecessor by her husband, Theodore, her sons Michael Cheney, SSG William Cheney, her granddaughter Gina Marie, her parents, her sisters Virginia Kusterer, Katherine DiCarlo, Patricia Noel, her brother James Arthur.

Barbara is survived by her daughters DebraLee Hurley of Enfield, Karen Hutchins of Sharon NH. Her sons Kevin Cheney of Haverhill MA and David Cheney of McKenzie TN. She had 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

A Catholic funeral and burial will be planned in the spring in Arlington MA.

A Memorial social gathering will be held on Sunday February 4 at St. Mary's Parish Hall in Canaan, at 11:15.
