Barbara Ann Wells Nielsen

White River Jct., VT - Barbara Wells Nielsen went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2025 at her home with her daughter at her bedside. She was born in Connecticut on February 28, 1936, the daughter of Eva Gay Airs Wells and Ralph Earnest Wells of Newport and later Milton, VT.

She graduated from Milton High school and later attended Beautician school. She is preceded by her late husband Harold Nielsen of Tunbridge, VT, her parents and her 3 older brothers.

She leaves behind her son Mark Nielsen, his wife Laurie of Johnson, VT; her daughters Paulagay Nielsen Adams of White River Junction, VT and Karen Paquin of White River Junction, VT; 9 grandchildren Rebecca Sweet, her husband David; Sarah Wood, Grace Adams-Hazen, her husband Dylan; Matthew Schill, his wife Lindsay; Dennis Adams Jr.; Jamie Nielsen; and Kellie Adams Fernander, her husband Jimmy; and 9 great grandchildren Amelia Nielsen, James Fernander, Daisy Hazen, David Sweet Jr, Ethan Fernander, Alice Fernander, Aaron Fernander, Natalia Sweet, and Phoenix Morrison.

Barbara was active in Church life, the last one being River Bank Church. She served as a deaconess in 3 of them, Eastern Stars, Awana program, and Brownies. She also enjoyed and was active in the Bugbee Senior Center where she played several recorders in the Sweet Notes Group.

She walked ALL OVER the Upper Valley White River Jct., Wilder, Hartford Village, and West Lebanon doing hair for the elderly and shut-ins. She loved to do outdoor sports like skiing both downhill and cross country, snow shoeing, roller skating, and playing ball with her family. Many thanks Boardway and Cilley for the care of her remains.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Riverbank Church at 259 Holiday Dr., White River Jct., VT on September 14, 2025 at 2pm, followed by light refreshments. Following the refreshments her cremated remains will be scattered at the Button Hill Cemetery in Tunbridge, VT.
