Daniel Richardson

Mohave Valley, AZ - Daniel Ralph Richardson was born at home in Brighton, MA on January 11, 1944. He died in his sleep at his home in Mohave Valley, Arizona, on September 10, 2023. Dan joined the Navy just out of high school and spent four years on the USS Saratoga CVA-60 in Fox Division as a radar tech. He worked for the United States Postal Service and throughout his life, he volunteered many hours of his time helping various causes from the CF Foundation to counting ballots on Town Meeting Day to David's House in Hanover, NH. He was raised on Lone Ranger on the radio, neighborhood stickball in the street, trips to Plum Island and Norumbega Park. He loved family, travel, and adventure. In 1978, he moved to Hartland, Vermont with his wife, Joyce and his daughters, Amy and Zoë. A city boy, living in a 100+ year old Vermont farmhouse and raising animals in his barn on a dirt road in a small town was the best of times. Dan loved riding his motorcycle. He loved the green hills of Vermont as much as the hot and dusty Mohave Desert landscape.

He was predeceased by his parents, Teresa Eugenia Dargavel and Lewis Chester Richardson, his sister Marie Kilduff, his brothers David Richardson, Donald Richardson, and Eugene Richardson, several nieces and nephews, his daughter, Zoë in 1987 and his wife, Joyce Pollard Richardson in 2005. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Richardson of Montpelier, his second wife, Lynne Richardson of Mohave Valley, Arizona and her children, Dawna Hamm and Joe Alen of California. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Rosemarie Richardson, many beloved nieces and nephews, and his wife Joyce's brother Phillip Pollard, his wife Mary, and their children and families.

Dan didn't want a service. Instead, celebrate his memory by going apple picking on a bright blue-sky fall day, listen to some 1950s rock n roll, take a leisurely drive on a dirt road, enjoy a game of penny ante with friends and family, and make sure to tell a few good dad jokes along the way.
