David Cook Obituary

David Wilson Cook

Elkins, NH - David W. Cook passed on September 17, 2025.

"I see fields of green

Red Roses too

I see them bloom

For me and you

And I think to myself

What a wonderful world."

David Wilson Cook, Musician, Philosopher, Poet, Naval Officer, Trail Creator, Financial Advisor, graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Business School subscribed to Jelly Roll Morton's sage dictum "always give 'em melody with plenty of rhythm."

David lived by many footpaths in the village of Elkins, NH with his best friend and cherished wife Celeste where they have shared five children, fourteen grandchildren, and three great grands, and their yellow lab Sebastian.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the wish list of the Nursing Staff in the Medical/Surgical unit of New London Hospital, 273 County Road, New London, NH 03257 or to the Kearsarge Community Band at PO Box 469, New London, NH 03257.

David was a gift - possessing cherished and impactful qualities akin to the genius, naturalist, bard, musician, philosopher, trusted fiduciary, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor and friend that he was.

“A man of many paths” is apt; and, I will be forever grateful to have walked a mile or two by his side in a wonderful life that spanned many thousands.

Sending love to his beloved Celeste and family near and far.

May he greet you with every sunrise.

Gramp, you are the greatest man I’ve ever known. Kind, humble and selfless. Whether it was the stars at night or thunderclouds over the beaches of Plum Island, you taught me to appreciate the beauty of this world and what it is to truly be alive. You made this world a better place. Thank you for everything.

Dave was a good friend and a fine musician. I played trumpet in the Granite State Stompers with Dave on clarinet...it was an excellent Dixieland Jazz Band.

So sad to see this, Celeste... If there is anything we (the band) can do, please, please feel free to ask. What a musician, to say nothing of his financial knowledge!

He was always good to me, especially when I joined the band. Loved him, Ed Olney
