Sympathies to the Murray family on the loss of their remarkable mainstay who fulfilled so many crucial roles in his beautiful family. Having grown up with Dave through elementary and high school years it was always clear he was a person of sterling character, leadership qualities, ethical principles and compassion along with a keen intellect. Hearing about his accomplishments over the years and stories from mutual friends it's obvious Dave satisfied all the predictions of success and more from the early years. Heaven will be further graced by his presence. Brian Barr, AFSC

How missed this special soul will be.I had the good fortune to interview Dave for an article. We had similar childhood/family lives, even to saying the rosary every night together.
That slow, sweet smile upon meetings, the humility, the discipline, the kindness, fit as a fiddle.
Dave asked me to teach his young grand children to ski at the Q ski Hill. He was so happy to witness their progress.
and golf - his passion. I even played a few times with him.. yes, humbled --me. He didn't keep score on those outings.
He just warmed your heart-- everyone he encountered. He was calming++++++
carry on beautiful Mavis. my best.
love, love.

To the David Murray Family:
I am a VI graduate who knew Dave fairly well. I left VI after my junior year, entering the Brothers of Holy Cross, remaining under vows for 10 years. That took me out of the group of the VI graduates but nevertheless, I can bring to the Murray family that this man was within the top 10 members of our VI students if not perhaps the top member of his/our class. If there is anything that might convince the Murray family in holding Dave in the level of esteem that he deserves to be held as a member of his VI Class, it would be these two things:
1. Simply reflect on his life the way he lived it. That would be number one.
2. Secondly, if I may humbly add that your family accept this 60 year old memory of mine that Dave's contributions to our even a close friend to Dave in VI, however, this is 2024 and I have neither visited with him nor have I even spoken to him over the phone but I am right now crushed in a rather distant way that you, his family have lost him. I say this because even after nearly 60 years of having last seen Dave, I still have to believe that this planet lost one of its most special human beings that our Lord has ever given to us, at least based upon the three years upon which I knew Dave and again, I did not know him that well.
As a member of Holy Cross, I can also mention that Brother David and I never crossed paths. In fact I can also share with you that although I know individuals who were in Uganda , I believe with Brother David, I never had the opportunity to be in any of the assignments of the Brother's schools or missions where we might have been in contact with each other so the only area that I had to be involved on a personal level with Dave was while we were in VI which was, as I mentioned nearly 60 years ago and at this writing, I am still flooded with such positive memories of this then outstanding human being that I write to you in hopes of making your loss less difficult.
God Bless you and I will have a Mass for Dave said as soon as I can arrange it. I will let you know when that is arranged.
I know, further that Dave would definitely appreciate a Mass said in his name when his family was there when that Mass was arranged and even further, a Plenary indulgence in Dave's name would be available to his soul if a member of his family might be able to say a rosary either with his family or with a group of any member of his church family. I do not drive any more so I am not able to be involved in either of these activities any more but if one or both of these activities might be planned, his soul would be the beneficiary of eternal benefit.
May God bless all of Dave's family and also Dave's soul.
Peter Blaauboer, Class of '56 of VI. Further, an ex member of Holy Cross Brothers
