Jane Gordon Obituary

Jane A. Gordon

Hartland, VT - Jane A. Gordon, 66, died peacefully at her home on June 24, 2023, with her husband, daughter, and best friend, Judy Dixon, by her side.

Jane was born in September of 1956 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Frederick and Louise (Irwin) Zorn, where she later graduated from Bunnell High School. She then went on to study at Bridgeport Hospital Nursing School, where she earned her nursing degree.

In the mid 80's, Jane moved to Vermont, where she started her life with Albert Jackson, later bringing their daughter, Alyssa, into the world in 1992. There was nothing more Jane loved than Alyssa and creating memories with her and later watching her granddaughter Emily grow. Jane was the most caring and compassionate person as said by all who were graced by her presence. Later in her life, Jane formed an unconditional love for horses and enjoyed spending her time taking care of her and Alyssa's horse, Heppy. Jane was artistic and crafty, loving to crochet, creating Zentangle art, and sewing gifts for her friends and family. Through all of her passions, she is best known and loved for her incredible capacity to love, for her infectious smile and laugh. A laughter which she shared exuberantly and often, and which will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

As befitting her nature, Jane enjoyed a long and successful nursing career at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, that began in 1985. Aside from caring for her patients during her time at DHMC, Jane formed close relationships with friends and colleagues many of whom she has held throughout her life including her close group of friends, affectionately referred to as the YaYas. Upon retirement in 2022, she spent the remainder of her life surrounded by the things most important to her, her family, her friends, her prized gardens, and her cherished animals.

Jane was a faithful member of the First Congregational Church of Hartland, where she married her beloved husband, Peter Gordon, on May 21, 2016, after being together for many years. Together, Jane and Peter spent the years doing the things they loved, including attending classic car shows, taking care of their property in Hartland, Vermont, and most importantly spending time with family during their many family gatherings.

Jane was predeceased by her parents, Frederick, and Louise.

She is survived by her husband, Peter Gordon, of Hartland, Vermont; her daughter, Alyssa Hughes (Ben Hughes) of Windsor, VT; stepchildren, Heather Doran of Quechee, VT and Laura Gordon of Wilder, VT; grandchildren, Emily Hughes, Jaxon Doran and Reilly Laware. She also leaves behind her sister, Melissa Zorn of Branford, CT and brother Thomas Zorn (Esther Zorn) of Syracuse, NY as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the First Congregational Church in Hartland, at 10 Station Road in Hartland, VT, with burial to follow in the Hartland Village Cemetery.

Condolences to the family. Jane and I were childhood friends growing up together in Stratford and were fortunate enough to have a gang of 5 girls who saw each other through teen aged angst, college, marriage, children and always an anchor through our parents back in Stratford. Remembering those days and grateful for her enduring friendship. Fare thee well Jane. Thank you for it all. Anne
