John DeLouchrey

Grafton, NH - John DeLouchrey, a longtime resident of Grafton, NH passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, with family by his side. He was 81. John was born in Cambridge MA, to the late Harold J. and Rose Marie (Condon).

John grew up in the heart of Cambridge with his three sisters Rose, Mary, and Catherine. John served in the National Guard and was a graduate of Stonehill College. John was the ultimate sports fan and for many years was a season ticket holder for the both the Celtics and Patriots.

In the early 80's John met the love of his life, Eileen (Holleran) they married in 1985 and shortly thereafter began building the log cabin of their dreams in Grafton, NH. During the building phase there were many weekends and vacations spent clearing land, erecting walls, hammering nails, but mostly sitting down at the end of the day with family and friends all of whom were there to lend a hand.

John and Eileen's log cabin became the hub for many gatherings of family and friends and affectionately became known as the Kilton Hilton, where the door was always open, and the beer was cold!

John enjoyed all the pleasures of log cabin living in Grafton, summer months were spent out on Kilton Pond canoeing, floating in his noodle chair, hiking and road trips while the winter months were spent snowmobiling, tending to the wood stove, and watching Sunday football.

Being such a sports fan John became an avid golfer, at first enjoying weekend games playing with family and friends but once retired John was known to go out onto the course several times a week. In recent years John played in a Tuesday morning golf league and enjoyed his weekly round with friends at the New Hampshire Country Club.

John's retirement years, although never long enough, were spent traveling to Florida and South Carolina playing golf, enjoying the warmer weather, and spending time with family and friends. John and Eileen would also travel to Ireland where they spent time with Eileen's family in Galway.

After losing Eileen in 2023, John filled his days playing golf in the warmer months, going to the gym, out to breakfast, and buzzing around Kilton Pond in his golf cart.

John leaves behind his three sisters, Rose, Mary and Cathy, their families, many loving nieces and nephews, a very close community of friends in Grafton and his beloved cat Boog who filled his days with affection and mischief.

Calling Hours will be held at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main St., New London, NH on Saturday, October 12th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
