I'm so sorry for the passing of Mr. Moses. I had him in high school for business classes and drivers Ed. The stories I could share!! He was a very kind and compassionate man. He helped me more than he knew. I still have letters that he shared with me about to reach for the stars as he would always tell me in his beautiful penmanship. So glad that you Mrs. Moses had the opportunity to enjoy retirement with him. He was one in a million! God Bless you and your families. Fly High Mr. Moses!

Natalie, Kelly, Leslie, and extended Moses Family,
I´m so very sorry for your loss of John....such a wonderful, gentle, and fun man. I´m proud to say I´ve known John, and the Moses family my entire life as a family friend, and former student. He devoted his life to education, which is a profession that is dedicated to the service of others, and making a lifelong difference for the students under his care.....which he did amazingly well, and with humility.
John taught me to type, and drive a car, both critical life skills, and he made learning those skills fun, like a great teacher does. Without those skill´s I´d still be living at home, typing with one finger....not a very enticing job applicant these days.
As John´s typing student, my typewriter started smoking one day (totally not because I was a fast typist). I raised my hand "Um, Mr. Moses, my typewriter is smoking"....he walked over and asked "Do you think it´s old enough?" ....I so loved his dry humor... we both looked at that old Mascoma High-school typewriter and agreed "Yes, it´s probably old enough `to smoke´" we both laughed, and he moved me to a non-smoking typewriter to finish my lesson.
A great man, who will be dearly missed. Rest in peace John Moses.

Natalie, Kelly, and Leslie,
I was saddened to hear that "Mr. Moses" had passed away.
I have gone down memory lane remembering him as my bookkeeping and driver's ed teacher at Mascoma. He was always kind and encouraging to me. I was pretty quiet back in those days.
I remember him picking me up to babysit his girls. He trusted me to take Kelly to see The Muppet Movie right after I graduated in '79. We sure laughed at Kermit's long legs when he pedaled a bicycle! Kelly did say her mom had questioned him about my driving skills. Later, Leslie was the flower girl in my wedding.
He was our tax preparer for many years. I just looked at his signature on one of those old returns. It was as neat as always!
I remember seeing you at LLBean years ago after I had gotten my first kayak. I was concerned about being able to get back in it if I fell out in deep water. Mr. Moses told me that would probably never happen-- and all these years later, it hasn't!
I am happy to read, Natalie, that you had years of active adventures during retirement in Florida. I am sure there are many fun and happy memories to recall. I hope they comfort you.

Mr. Moses, even after 50+ years from being a student of his, I can't bring myself to call him John. He has always stood out as my best teacher in high school at Mascoma. I had him for some of my business related classes and he was always so supportive of me and my ideas. I went on to Champlain College and later ended up with a job at a multinational company and jobs in the nonprofit sector. His confidence during my high school days made all the difference in my career. He had a heart of gold and treated everyone with so much respect. He was really a genuine soul. My condolences to his family.

My deepest condolences to his family. Mr. Moses was my business teacher (bookkeeping and typing) in high school (grad. 71). Later in life when I returned to NH, and he was Principal, he invited me to give the awarding speech for the National Honor Society. He will be missed but his legacy lives on each of us he taught.

I remember being in the 6th grade in Enfield Elementary. Mr. Moses had called me to his office. I was so afraid I had done something wrong! It turned out that he wanted me to go before the school board to speak about the Reading Is Fundamental program. I loved to read and felt honored to be asked. Because Mr. Moses asked me to address that board, I had a belief in standing up for things I have felt passionate about: Head Start, teen parenting, poverty, and dementia are just a few. I have stood before leaders at local, state, and federal leaders to share parts of my story on why programs are needed to address these topics. I have been blessed to advocate in a variety of ways: print, radio, television and I even took my then 9 year old son to the Mall in Washington DC to "Stand for Children".
I´m thankful to Mr. Moses for that first opportunity. Even though it was more than 40 years ago, it was a tiny seed planted in my heart that bore much fruit.
My sincerest thoughts and prayers go to his family during this time.

I remember Mr. Moses well. One of the most valuable classes I ever took was his bookkeeping class. He taught the basic but important financial tools - stuff like how to write a check, and balance your checkbook, how to formulate a budget, and how to track debits and credits. I still use and appreciate what I learned from him over 50 years ago. I never saw him again after I graduated from Mascoma HS in 1970, despite the fact that I've lived in Rumney since 1985. I always hoped that I see him again to say thanks. I won't forget him. He certainly was a gentleman. To his family and friends, I extend my deepest sympathies for your loss.
