Kathy Connor
Woodstock, VT - Kathy Connor, 81, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday February 13, 2025. Kathy approached life with an open heart, a competitive spirit, and a deep belief in the power of appreciation. Whether she was writing in her daily journal, volunteering at church, or teaching someone how to perfect their ping-pong game, she lifted up those around her with kindness, encouragement, and an infectious love of play.
Born in Brooklyn as the second oldest of eight children, Kathy grew up in Queens and Long Island, where she learned early on how to hold her own in a lively household. She married Edward Connor and together they raised three children-Kirsten, Kevin, and Denis-instilling in them her sense of determination, humor, and appreciation for life's small joys.
Kathy spent years managing the retail shops at the infamous Action Park / Vernon Valley Great Gorge Ski Area, where she kept things running smoothly amidst the chaos. Long before snowboarding was widely accepted, she championed the sport and helped pave the way for its place on the mountain. She had a gift for seeing not just what was, but what could be-whether on the slopes, in her community, or in the lives of those she cared about.
Later, she moved to Woodstock when she transferred from the VA in the Bronx to White River Junction, quickly making Vermont her home. She loved pickleball and could often be found on the court, sharing her passion with anyone willing to play. She was equally at home volunteering at church and the senior center, always ready to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or teach someone the finer points of ping pong with an encouraging (but competitive) spirit.
Kathy is survived by her six siblings: Richard, Suzanne, Regina, Nancy, Michael, and Paula; her three children: Kirsten Connor (Darren McCullough), Kevin Connor (Jette Connor), and Denis Connor (Beth Telford); and her beloved grandchildren: Ian (Jenna) Connor, Mallory Connor (Caleb Putnam), Owen Nestor, Anissa Rock (Elija Rock), Lilia McCullough, Declan McCullough, Nathan Connor, Jake Connor, and Madilyn Connor. She was also blessed with one great-granddaughter, Eleanor Connor, and two great-grand babies on the way.
Kathy believed that joy could change your life-and she lived that belief daily. She leaves behind a legacy of mindfulness, appreciation, and love for the little things. In her honor, take a moment today to reflect on what brings you joy-just like Kathy would have.
A funeral mass for Kathy will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Our Lady of the Snows in Woodstock, VT at 11:00am with a reception to follow. All are welcome.
