Martin Adams Obituary

Martin G. "Marty" Adams

South Royalton, VT - Martin G. Adams, 58, of South Royalton, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 21st, 2025. Born on April 13, 1967, in Randolph, VT, Marty was the youngest son of Martin and Grace (McKenzie) Adams. He grew up in South Royalton and attended the South Royalton School, graduating in 1985. Marty participated in many school activities but his passion was sports, particularly baseball.

Marty attended and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1990 with a degree in communications and continued to be an avid Huskies fan the rest of his life. Following graduation, he worked retail in Massachusetts for a few years before the pull of So Ro brought him closer to home and coaching. He was currently employed by White River Toyota as a gifted salesman and networker.

He met the love of his life, Linda in 1995 and they were married on December 9, 2000.

They started their married life together in Hartland, then moved to South Royalton where they have lived for 20+ years. Marty started coaching for the So. Royalton Babe Ruth team and then later coached the varsity baseball team for several years, bringing his team to the state championships twice. He also traveled the greater upper valley as a soccer referee and softball official. While Marty's passion was baseball his loyalty was to his family. There was not much he enjoyed more than a good barbecue or campfire surrounded by those he loved. He especially cherished his time with he and Linda's grandchildren, Tyren and Olivia.

He is survived by his wife Linda, his stepdaughter Tara of Denver, Colorado, his stepson Dallas (wife Crystal) of Barre, VT, his grandson Tyren and granddaughter Olivia, his mother Grace, sisters Nancy (husband David) and Pam (husband James) as well as his older brother Robert (wife Ann), mother-in-law Marilyn Mullen of Grantham, sister-in-law Lori Duranleau and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Martin and father-in-law Ernie Mullen.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025 at 5pm at the High School gymnasium in South Royalton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the White River Valley baseball program.

Our condolences to Linda, her family and the entire Adams family on the untimely passing of my good friend Marty. It is with the deepest of sadness that we heard he was gone. Gone from the earth but not gone from our memories. A good friend of mine, we met at UConn and spent many, many hours together. Always up for a good time, Marty was a person who connected people together and could always be counted on and trusted. From college, I really only keep up with two people and Marty was one of them. I was lucky to see him last year when he traveled down to attend the 60th birthday celebration for my wife and I. We will miss Marty dearly and our deepest condolences to those whose life he touched; we are all better people to have had him in our lives. Stephen (and Lisa) Barrett, South Windsor, CT

Some of my fondest memories are with my cousins. Here in August 1978 Marty, Nancy and Pam hiked with me from West Hartford to Hanover on the Appalachian Trail. Great times in eternity. Love Randy Gifford
