Michael S. Currier
Lebanon, NH - Michael S. Currier, of Lebanon, NH, passed away peacefully, on October 7, 2025, surrounded by love at Alice Peck Day Hospital, Lebanon, NH. He was born on October 14, 1977, at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH.
He graduated from Lebanon High School in l998, and became very active in the community volunteering at many non-profit organizations. One he will always remember is his 1,000 hour pin volunteering at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. To honor his volunteer service and 30th birthday, Michael was surprised with an unexpected ride in the DHART helicopter-a highlight of his life followed by a collection of DHART pins on his hat that he proudly wore.
His years of volunteering extends from baking cookies at David's House, delivering Meals-on-Wheels, packaging desserts for Listen Community Dinners, and cleaning buses at Advance Transit to working at Dartmouth Dining, 53 Commons. Recently, he participated at Moonrise Farm grooming horses and riding his favorite Icelandic horse named Kristall. In earlier years, he participated in Road to Independence working with donkeys learning many life skills.
Besides his community involvement, Michael favored his trips to the Lebanon Fire Department and rides on the Advance Transit buses. He participated in many of the Happenings and SPARK social activities and dances. His music requests often included songs from Barry Manilow, after going to a live concert in his younger years.
Outside of the community, Michael enjoyed spending time at his family's cottage and sitting around bonfires with his brother, Kevin. Michael was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Lebanon and past member of the CYO Youth Group where he came to know and love Jesus.
His journey of independence came when he moved into Visions, a residential housing for special needs young adults. There he made friendships and engaged in many opportunities. Visions became his family, and he found the love and support of everyone who lived there. At Michael's passing, love filled the room with cherished memories and tears of loss at losing a family member.
Michael was of a small stature but had a big heart. His infectious smile and personality charmed those that he met. He was loved by many and served his community through their generous support and compassion of him.
He is survived by his parents, stepfather Gary Shepard and Karen Currier, brother Kevin (Rose) Currier, niece Mia Currier, nephew Leif Currier, stepbrother Brian (Lynn) Shepard and his children Tyler and Matthew, stepsister Laura (John) Yeager, her daughter Megan.
