Michael Morancy Obituary

Michael James Morancy

Wilder, VT - Michael James Morancy of Wilder, VT passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 15, 2025. Michael was born on August 29, 1948, to Raymond and Eleanor (Rosenbeck) Morancy. Michael was known early in life for causing trouble with his many cousins. Michael started working young, often bragging he held his first job at age 10. One of his many odd jobs was carpentry, a skill he became passionate about and skillfully mastered. He eventually started his own business as a builder and designer. Despite his insistence that his offspring never pursue the occupation, Michael constructed some of the most elegant homes in Vermont, many of which you can find featured in various woodworking publications. He continued his family's selfless service to the Upper Valley community as a volunteer firefighter in Hartford.

Michael met his wife Andrea while working on a house in Norwich at a party thrown by the homeowner. She instantly became the love of his life, and they married one year later in 1983. Although already having kids of his own, Andrea convinced him to try for more. She got her wish when the couple was blessed with triplets when Michael was 46. Michael devoted nearly the rest of his life to raising his family, sharing in their many passions and hobbies, and providing them with a comfortable life.

Michael had many passions. Despite spending his entire week building, he would come home and spend his weekend mornings in his shop crafting furniture. He was highly competitive and loved nothing more than beating his friends and family on the golf course, bowling, or in a game of cribbage. He loved throwing a ball around the yard, a skill he mastered playing softball. Most importantly he loved camping, sometimes at NASCAR races, and his family vacations to Florida and Maine.

Michael was loved dearly by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Andrea; his sister Susan and her husband Edward Parker; his daughter Lisa and her husband Michael Swett and their two children Josselyn and Erica; his triplet children Hunter, Stephanie, and Kali Morancy; as well as many great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Michael is also survived by his daughter Kristina and Scott Gregoire and their children Kristiana and Zachary; and his daughter Karina O'Connell and spouse Michael Allard and their children Isabella and Lillyana. He will be remembered for his work ethic, thoughtfulness, and incredible sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 1pm until a celebration of his life at 3pm at Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT.

The family would like to thank friends and family, particularly the Parmenter family, for helping to keep Michael home during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org) in Michael's honor. Online condolences may be expressed at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
