Munnsville, NY - Michael J. Richards, 32, of Munnsville, formerly of VT and TX, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at his mother's home after losing his battle with PTSD.

He was born on September 10, 1992, in Hollywood, FL, the son of Michael Richards and Lisa Hiscox. Mike was a 2011 graduate of Oxbow High School in Bradford, VT.

On October 31, 2020, Mike was united in marriage to Amanda Chamberlain.

At the age of 17, Mike proudly joined the Vermont Army National Guard serving in the 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where he served as a combat engineer and an explosive expert. While deployed in Qatar, Mike went to great lengths to adopt a dog named Jack and bring him home with him.

Mike was a man of simple joys and deep generosity. He found peace in nature-whether casting a line on a quiet lake, sitting around a campfire under the stars, or taking in the stillness of the woods. A skilled carpenter by both trade and passion, Mike could often be found building something not just with wood, but with heart. He was always the first to lend a hand, offering his time, tools, or advice to anyone in need. His kindness was instinctive, his generosity boundless. To know Mike was to be cared for, laughed with, and reminded of the beauty in the little things-like a good day of fishing, a well-built deck, or the joy of simply being outside.

Mike was employed as a carpenter, a job he truly loved, for the Ambrose Custom Builders in South Pomfret, Vermont. He was previously employed by Simple Energy in Lebanon, NH. While Mike was in Texas, he found peace and comfort with God after being baptized in the Baptist Church.

Surviving are his mother, Lisa Hiscox (Jeff Rutz), of Munnsville; his father, Michael (Susan Hardie) Richards, of AZ; his wife, Amanda Chamberlain, of VT; a brother, Cody Richards, of Claremont, NH; his grandmother, Mary Rutz of Munnsville and his Vermont National Guard family; and many extended family members.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St., Oneida, NY. Family and friends are invited and may call on Saturday prior to the service from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
